Work is fun, it's my passion to help people and it is more relaxing and valuable when I have my very friendly co-workers around me. Multicultural people with respect and love. Sometimes the hardest part of the job is when there is not enough staff and its hard to manage.

Full of gossip

Personal Care Worker/ med comp (Current Employee) - Strathalbyn SA - 2 April 2023

Place is massive with gossip and drama creating issues that have no need to be there about other staff members the residents are beautiful but can be aggressive and when you are hit nothing is done

Senior staffs are not nice. Poor staff resident ratio. Carers were not valued. They expect us to do things even if its not in our work field. No pay rise.

Poor management

I was employed at Estia for 15 months as a casual whilst studying my Diploma of Nursing. As I was on placement we changed managers. After my placement I was unwell so in this time COVID testing had to be done I informed my manager. It ended up being a chest infection. I picked up a couple of shifts which I had to cancel due to this. I then picked up a shift for a day that I had school and rang that I made a mistake . Two days later I received an email from payroll saying they are sorry to hear I'm leaving . I never resigned, I never was spoken to by the manager or received any corespondince from this company . So I pretty much got tiered without a reason or any contact by the manager. Definetly will never work for this company again .

Stress full to work at

Residents are unhappy. Life style hide so they don't have to do anything. It's a joke to watch then the carers get blamed ..disgraceful .the dementia part is so understaffed . Families coming in expecting to get waited on while we struggle to toilet residents..and the husband's are worried about what they want on the topping of the dessert. Makes me so angry ... We need support as carers

Terrible management, rude staff, too many shortcuts

Golden grove estia, terrible facility, management is incredibly rude and unhelpful, injured my arm talked to the executive director about it and she asked me "okay what do you want me to do about it" aren't we supposed to report injuries? The staff are underpaid thus leads to frustration, skipping steps in the care of residents and thus leading to an unhappiness in staff and between workers.

I was worked with estia health for more then ten months, but due to moving interstate I had to quiet the this job. I am again looking to make my career in Personal Care Worker.
