Encountered one evening no regular staffs at nambour facility and then was only 1 agency staff in a wing at maroochydore. Management don't understand the safety risks of placing carers in a wing where they don't know the residents and being understaffed.

Very welcoming

Personal Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Australia - 3 May 2023

I was introduced to everyone at the start of handover for induction, who l am working with. Everything went as planned. I felt at home, staffs were friendly, different backgrounds and cultures but one voice. They are continous improvements on management and staffs, trainings which are paid to attend. It is indeed, home from home.

Never ending shortage of staff. Too much to do with so little time. High expectations from management without any support from them. Staff members are great teamwork. However management won’t help you make any changes even staff is working till death

Unhappy workplace .Management are not pro active . listen to gossip. favouritism to friends of management . short staffed and under pressure on staff to meet Estia;s requirements . Better Companies out there to work for . Disappointing culture at benalla site .

Lack of team work and communication lead to constant confusion and contradictions. Running out of aids,PPE and just basic necessities was a stressful everyday occurrence.

Bad management

Money hungry business that work staff like slaves. No praise or recognition to staff from management. Management bullies their staff members. Never has anything nice to say to staff. Paid very poorly and expected to stay back a lot of the time. They do not like paying overtime. They do not like replacing staff, instead they enjoy seeing staff suffer working under unrealistic expectations. There are residents that should not be there after numerous complaints about safety, but estia keeps them there to make money. They do not care about the staff safety wellbeing. They make some residents suffer due to not getting the right care to their needs. Residents get upset because there are not enough staff to cater to their needs. When rooms are empty management cuts staff shifts. Making staff stay back working for free. This company and management knows how to take advantage over their staff. Horrible company don't waste your time working for them.

Always short staffed, revolving door for managers

A typical day involves assisting with residents ADLS, bathing, meals, toileting. We have been through so many managers, which has created a poor culture for staff and residents. The culture of bullying is back since another manager has left. It is common to see your team mates in tears and working short staffed is normal. The culture is becoming less about residents care and providing great customer service and more about profits. Estia doesn't seem to value staff or residents....just money...used to be wonderful....going down hill rapidly.

A typical day would involve attending to and assisting residents with there daily ADLs such as showering ,toileting, dressing them, making beds, meal assisting where ever required. Engaging them in conversation and activities. Being alert and sensitive to there needs and treating them with dignity and respect.Working as a team and part of a team to ensure high quality of care is provided.The most important part of the job is the satisfaction you get at the end of your shift that you made difference in someones life.

give to elderly Personal hygine like showering grooming dressing toilting as well feeding. i learned lots of things from overthere how to work with elderly if they angry how to handle them .give them emotional support etc.
