- Support from manager
- Fair pay for job
Lovely residents, poor management, nurses are fantastic
Aged Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Thurgoona NSW - 11 November 2018
If There was new manager, the staff would be alot happier. The other care staff are amazing they all go above and beyond. Lifestyle could be better at doing there job and not telling the nurses how to do there own job
Pros
Nurse staff are wonderful to work with
Cons
Feels like a prison and staff aren't happy

Terrible management, rude staff, too many shortcuts
Personal Care Worker (Current Employee) - Golden Grove SA - 2 June 2018
Golden grove estia, terrible facility, management is incredibly rude and unhelpful, injured my arm talked to the executive director about it and she asked me "okay what do you want me to do about it" aren't we supposed to report injuries? The staff are underpaid thus leads to frustration, skipping steps in the care of residents and thus leading to an unhappiness in staff and between workers.
Cons
Low pay, few shifts, constantly looking for second jobs

Always short staffed, revolving door for managers
PCA (Current Employee) - South Morang VIC - 6 January 2018
A typical day involves assisting with residents ADLS, bathing, meals, toileting. We have been through so many managers, which has created a poor culture for staff and residents. The culture of bullying is back since another manager has left. It is common to see your team mates in tears and working short staffed is normal. The culture is becoming less about residents care and providing great customer service and more about profits. Estia doesn't seem to value staff or residents....just money...used to be wonderful....going down hill rapidly.
Pros
Getting to take care of beautiful residnets
Cons
Working short staffed, lack of AC in many areas, inconsistent management

Volunteer work
Volunteer work at Estia Health (Current Employee) - Werribee VIC - 8 October 2017
I have been volunteering at Estia for a few months now, I have learnt how to communicate with different varieties of people with different needs, I have learnt a lot, how to cut food up for others, how to communicate, to stay calm when things are not going smoothly, I have learnt within myself, that I can be enthusiastic and have a calm energy about me. I show interest in all walks of life,

Different work environment.
Assistant in Nursing (Current Employee) - Coolum QLD - 22 May 2017
Looking after resident's ADL's and making sure that they are comfortable, well hydrated and fed.
Ensure no residents abscod from the Dementia Units, and liase with management on any aspects of the job or residents concerns that may need addressing at a higher level.
Every day is different, that is the most exciting part, although you have to do the same work, the people who you deal with, may not have been the residents you dealt with yesterday, keeping you on your toes!
Pros
Good Team Environment.
Cons
Being on call, different shifts/times/areas.

Interacting with the residents
Personal Care Attendant (Current Employee) - Bentleigh East VIC - 17 April 2017
Caring for the residents, helping other staff members, residents are lovely, don't like the back stabbing and bullying environment. The hardest part of the job is when one of you favourite residents passes away.
