The recent leader of FLIR Systems always gave a strong message, and I was able to grow with the company for almost eight years.

The products were strong in the niches filled, and seeing those products help society in general from threats like poaching, terrorism and natural disaste; as well as the good of environmental control, defense capability and COVID-19 response, I was able to appreciate the company.

This is a poorly run company. No vision or support from upper management, which is top heavy. Doesn't care about its employees. Workload was too great.
Pros
Location - Nashua
Cons
No collaboration from team, no support from management

Some of the finest people I have ever worked with, they are honest, decent, diligent, helpful, mentoring and positive. It is one of the best cultures I have ever had the good fortune to be a part of.

FLIR is very supportive of educating its employees, permanent as well as continent staff. The politics are fairly minimal and the compensation is fairly satisfactory for all workers.
Pros
An overall supportive environment
Cons
It is a medium size company, so moving up may be a little more difficult than in a larger company.

Be prepared to be under-compensated and almost 0 upward mobility despite reviews of outstanding contributor. Be prepared to sacrifice your faimly time at the end of every quarter due to unmet customer obligation. Forget the holiday season especially.

FLIR was convenient in terms of having flexible hours. WIth Orlando traffic that made things easier. The workplace culture was almost always positive and it felt like a family pretty quickly.

Really good people who care about their jobs, always worked really hard to make sure things were done right. I worked as a temporary employee however, I felt I could ask coworkers for direction or help. Kind people. Good experience, learned a lot.

The company is ran very lean which can be challenging. There is not much of a work life balance. Long hours and ever increasing work load and org changes make it very hard to complete tasks and succeed in your job.

It is very difficult to receive a promotion. There is not much room to advance and if a position becomes available there are an extreme number of obstacles before the position can be filled. FLIR says they promote from within but this is not accurate. Most positions are filled from outside sources.

a typical day at work: fast lots of energy, busy day more exciting.
what I learned: handling different sizes of glass reticles.

management: needs improvement, hard to pleased.

workplace culture: calm

hardest part of the job: difficulty in processing unknown material,

most enjoyable part of the job: getting recognize, awarding, compensated.

Work here can be both fun and rewarding, it can also be frustrating. Many of the projects are energizing, others command less interest from the management.

There me not much to say about the company until you work there. You have to be professional in every work place you work for. The company is not a bad place to work for

Fun place to work, always learning something new. Lots of opportunity to work on new things and learn new skills. Company direction has been confusing recently with lots of changes to company structure and upper management, but most employees have confidence in long-term stability of the company overall.

This company was a great to work for several years ago. They recently made some changes and management sucks. They have no idea and rely on the works to make the changes they need in the company, at almost minimum wage. I watched then let go of experienced workers to bring in entry level people at minimum pay. They take advantage of your time and effort. FLIR also took away PTO and replaced it with FTO. Meaning everyone that worked there lost their paid time of and was guve time off at managers discretion

Company develops innovative solutions. I enjoyed working with the immediate team members. FLIR acquired many companies during the years, however the merging process is not well polished and not all components of the company are well merged into company vision, which makes collaboration a real challenge.
Salary and benefits are decent.

Supervisors and managers were very good at keeping up with the day to day duties that everyone on the shop floor had and communicated goals strongly. Weekly meetings were held and everyones crucial duties for the week were discussed openly so that it was clear what the immediate goals were for that week.

This is a company that is constantly innovating and improving. It's easy to get behind their product line because of the value they bring in saving lives and protecting national security.
Pros
Excellent leadership, outstanding product, work-life balance, flight training
Cons
Long, rigorous process to obtain security clearance prior to employment
