Staff support very limited. Slow or no response to needs.Communication skills basic at best.Training opportunities rare to attend because of shifts not being covered.Happy to take large mental health packages from people and offer little in return.Staff overworked in crammed schedule. No breaks given for 10 hour shift.Staff also expected to do more than job description.Management detached from lower paid workers.Client packages more important than staff safety.
Some really caring people work there
Not fair to people we support.
Our team have not had proper leadership for a long time. Our manager is very difficult to contact and typically is at home during work hours (even with COVID, she does not often answer her phone). Training is provided by other staff members alone and team leader isn't involved. There is little motivation and the team is not connected. I would not recommend working in the Leichhardt cluster.
Reasonable pay rate, nice clients
Poor and ineffective management, non-existent leadership, few opportunities to advance career, shift times are at odd hours, little training or guidance provided, very minimal supervision provided.
This organisation is by far the worst NGO I have worked for. I was micromanaged and bullied throughout the duration of my short tenure. They lied, threatened and made promises that weren’t fulfilled and paradoxically my own mental health suffered as a result of the workplace culture. I felt a deep sense of relief when I finally resigned and instead of addressing workplace bullying, they were content in seeing me leave and later promoting the bully.
Flourish is a Disabilty Employer and the company strongly supports it's employees. The wages aren't great but it is primarily a stepping stone into open employment. I have been able to brush up on my admin skills after I took a hiatus from work to have my children. It is a very positive working environment and I would highly recommend it to potential employees.
The workers are all budgets, they sit around doing nothing but just chit chat until it's home time. They're a bunch of lying, fake snakes. Management is okay but even then they're all pretty annoying. The team is a young bunch so it's either they don't care and are not passionate or something has gone wrong for them to not be motivated.
Short lunch time, being monitored
I've worked for Flourish as a speaker and have also been featured in the 2019 march quarterly issue of their magazine 'panorama'. As a speaker I was able to share my stories and journey with mental health which was such an honour. I was featured in the magazine to showcase Flourish as an inclusive and kind company. My experience working for Flourish although short, has been a rewarding endeavour and I look forward to any further pursuits with them.
Free lunch and beverages, kind and courteous staff, good pay
A typical day revolves around being able to be flexible with time management for all those that you would need ot support, patience with traffic and those that you supports tendancy to cancel appointments last minute, a real enjoyment out of helping those that we support in their daily life and a willingness to make connections with those you meet.
Friendly & supportive environment
repetitive driving & hard to find parks
We want to help you find great companies. Help us be the best!

This organisation creates programmes to support people with mental illness.I conducted and set up Art classes for people with mental health. An excellent organisation with a sense social caring.
AN excellent oraganisation which encourages social enterprises.
Worst hypocritical work ethics. Advocates for mental health support but when I experienced my own mental health problems triggered by an incident at work, I was terminated whilst on sick leave with a medical certificate. No phone call or face to face, they sent a letter of termination to my home in the post. During my time there I complained about a coworker bullying and undermining me in front of clients and also disrespecting and badly treating clients with mental health problems. The manager told me on three occasions that he would speak to her, yet her behaviour continued and she was commended on her treatment of the clients. Her behaviour added to my own health and stress within this work place. I would never recommend this place as a healthy positive environment to work with. Their treatment of my situation was disgusting, negligible and they are not to be trusted in anyway.
Everything but the poor management and staff treatment
Love being in the community and helping those who need. But lately since flourish has moved they do not have people that know what they are doing in mental health industry. They are not organised at the moment and it has been this way for 4 months. No work at the moment with them and they are all over the place.
Lunch with clients
Not a nice workplace now that everything is changed
No two days are the same at Flourish, Surry Hills (an activity centre for people with mental health conditions) which makes it really interesting. Many members come in for activities during the day so there's always someone to say hello to and see how they are. Anything can happen during the day and I need to be flexible to allow for those changes. Management is excellent, as well as co-workers. The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing our members smile.
