Poorly organised hemorrhaging money on bad decisions.
Production Worker/Tradesman (Former Employee) –  Pinkenba QLD7 June 2019
Shift work, boring, no career progression, super toxic environment. Management belittle and ignore the experience of their employees. Yes men get promoted high within the organisation. No employee respect even after 10 years of service.

Plus side, you don't have to care about work ethic to much because no one else does, and the regular paycheck is nice.

Very negative environment
Warehouse Assistant (Former Employee) –  Welshpool WA26 June 2017
FL Smidth has a very negative work environment, it has unresolved bullying issues where many staff have quit due to management not caring, multiple unexplained instances where staff are let go with no reasoning, poor management and the list goes on...
Pros
BBQ if you work a weekend shift.
Cons
Poor management - staff members are not looked after.

Good working conditions, good workers
Training Manager Americas and Salt Lake City (Former Employee) –  Spokane Washington and Salt LaKe City6 June 2017
Many good aspects, especially when the market is in good shape. However, very poor upper and middle management who work hard to protect themselves rather than the broader company. It is a company managed by crisis rather than looking ahead. This is demonstrated by round after round of lay-offs with no vision for the future. In the melee, middle management uses the opportunity to remove anyone who is a challenge to themselves - the FOSS (fear of superior skills) syndrome.
Pros
Good salary, lot of good people below management levels

Opportunity to bring change and process improvement measures.
National Inventory Controller (Former Employee) –  Pinkenba, Brisbane9 June 2014
Fast paced environment to ensure customer requirements and tight schedules are met.Due to lack of robust systems in place there were abundant opportunities to implement new initiatives to deliver maximum value whilst working within company guidelines.
A friendly professional environment with very good working conditions
to achieve positive results.
My role was enjoyable whilst challenging due to numerous areas of inefficiency within the company however as new initiatives were implemented and results reflected the positive change this provided great satisfaction and drive to continue.
Management were supportive of the changes however due to downturn in the market conditions there was a change in culture and the management support network deteriorated.
Much was learned within the mining sector from understanding customer requirements to delivering best practice under at times difficult conditions.
Enjoyable and challenging company.
