A growing organisation with potential for all
Safety Risk Management Co-ordinator (FIFO) (Former Employee) - Tom Price Western Australia - 26 February 2018
Location was fabulous, regular travel time and experiences to and from the worksite back to camp. PM and CEO encourage inclusive learning for all levels of the site team. Located in the Pilbara, it was difficult to not enjoy the location and regular changes to the landscape, horizon together with the seasonal changes.. I felt very at home on this project having been raised in the area.
Pros
Arriving at site and seeing the scenery
Cons
Having to take R n R

productive work site
Operator Solomon Lieghton (Former Employee) - near wittenoom, WA - 15 January 2018
My day starts with a 20 minute bus drive to work. I start work at 0615, generally I load Cat 793 trucks on the ROM. I have a good supervisor and team around me. I enjoy loading trucks and doing road work with smaller loaders, but the crew work together which means operating other machinery as needed, which means we are constantly learning.
Pros
learning new machines
Cons
not enjoying flyin/flyout anymore

The push for as mush product to port over road most things, the family atmosphere between the gangs was great.
Track Inspector (Former Employee) - Port Hedland WA - 12 December 2016
get up at 04:30, start work at 05:30,run the track section for the day cheeking for wear of the running line and sidings, then reporting them to be rectified and entering them in the computer, finishing work 16:30 and going on call for any track flats during the night.
There is always some thing to learn, not every body knows every thing but when you add up all the knowledge at hand the answer is not far away.
It was good to have a management team that has worked their was up from the bottom as when told of a problem they know exsaculy what your talking about.
My co-workers were great they had a great knowledge of track works and had no problem helping you and a plesure to work with.
The hardest part of the job was leaving my family for two weeks a month or even longer.
the most enjoyable part of my job was coming home to my family.
Pros
Good camps and food, great people to work with and for.
Cons
being away from family.

FMG presenented a safe and quality managed work enviroment
A safe and productive shift was achieved by a quality prestart meeting, outlining safe work procedure and machine operating requirements for the shift tasks.
It is important for operators to be able work autonomously, but most importantly with safety and quality communication skills achieve a highly productive shift.
Communication with supervisors and leading hands was of high priority and fmg radio procedure ensured the ability to communicate safely with co-workers/operators in your designated areas.
Working in the Pilbara presented extreme and sometimes hostile environment where fmg's personal safety awareness and assessing inductions , and communication with other employees helps to make the job easer.
The best part of the job is the commerardery and ability to rely on likeminded workmates.
Pros
greeat work enviroment
Cons
not enough time to use quality amenities.

Great people to work with with great camp facilities
level 3 advanced operator (Former Employee) - Christmas Creek - 29 April 2015
A typical 12 hour day in mining
My experiences with FMG were great, with a lot of opportunities to move forward. With a sound message about safety you can go to work each day and feel comfortable in the work place.
Most of the management team were only to eager to address concerns. Co workers are the best thing about working at Christmas Creek, a laugh a joke and a very sociable atmosphere, This would have to be one of the most enjoyable things with the job.
Pros
Great camp facilities
Cons
Food not always the best but improving

Good job but long hours and late night shift
Laboring- Wash Down Crew (Former Employee) - Port Hedland, WA - 24 March 2015
Check safety card and PPE's then a full on safety brief before we get allocated tasks. The supervisors are switched on and are very good in their leadership role. The hardest part of the day is the time factor and the job itself because we are using large water hose to do washdown but at the same time it is challenging and enjoyable work.
Pros
Flexible
Cons
Long hours and late night shift
