Great people but a bit boring

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
It was a pretty boring job overall but responsibilities were reasonable and management was generally great and understanding. Always fun meeting different customers and the service team in particular are fantastic. It was generally enjoyable but would be better if it was a bit more busy and you had more things to do during the day(mainly for weekend work).

Excellent place to work for, felt like a 2nd home

I worked at fords for 10 years as a forklift driving feeding the production lines with stock and out back loading and unloading trucks such as cases and containers, it was excellent until they announce the closure of the plant I myself stayed till the very end. I would have till been there if the plant didn't close down.

Pros

Excellent lunch break with full cafe and hot meals.

Cons

Excellent hours

Get the job done and everyone is happy

It's a great company paying great wages and benefits. An American icon. Some people are good to work with and some are terrible. Just like anywhere else.

Pros

Health care

Cons

The training was very good.

Unfortunately it was all downhill from there. When someone is struggling instead of coaching them and supporting them to be successful in their role they basically let you drown and then tell you if you can't keep up you're out. There is no allowance for the fact that different people learn differently, at different rates and no support which I found very disappointing because I really wanted to be there and do well.

Pros

Canteen on site

Cons

Poor management

Progressive and professional environment driven by both company and individual values

Ford encourage individual growth on the job as well as providing employees with a progressive and professional environment to work in. Learning at work is available 24/7 and considered part of any role at the company which is gainful for both employer and employee. H & S is paramount and embedded in all aspects of worklife at Ford.A typical day involved both routine tasks and my own development of processes. I learned a lot about the chemical analysis of emission gases and about the management of an ISO accreditation.About management, Ford have endeavored to provide less levels of management in recent years which has assisted in the better identification as to which manager an individual reports to, however some areas still lack clarity e.g. ownership of equipment and resources.Workplace culture is very focused on H & S in addition to which individual managers have improved the workplace by taking opportunities to encourage knowledge sharing and to improve communication between separately functioning departments. Individually inspired activities exist in abundance e.g. sport and charitable activities. The hardest part about my job involved getting through to a few crucial individuals, trying and succeeding over time to encourage a constructive relationship for mutual benefit. The most enjoyable part of the job was to perform well once all aspects of life at work made sense and came under control.

Pros

Your chance to perform well for a great company

Cons

Unclear direction and information at start up

Good workplace

Good workplace. They let you learn but like any other company, they need results at the end of the day. People are nice and bosses are nice too however you may find yourself surrounded by bureaucracy at all time. It's a big organisation so don't be surprised by the amount of time it takes to get 1 small approval.

I dealt with providing data insights, data cleansing, manipulating, enhancing and giving recommendations based on the insights. Also handled data base operations like handline online servers and maintaining it online. Worked with power BI, Tableau tools for data explorations. Also used python, Rapid minor, R for performing calculating the performance.

my typical day at work is working with people who help each other as a team work ,and at the end of the day production is achieve. Workplace culture is always fun and safety is the number one priority. The hardest part of the job is when new model of vehicle is on production and machinery is breaking down and we require to build numbers at set-an month. The most enjoyable part of the job is when everything run well and production is achieve overtime is on the roll everyone happy ,the management satisfied .The management always in a position to help if anything needed or to be solve as quickly as possible the communication always good with team talk every week on Wednesday, the production stop and everyone sit down and talk about problem solving
