Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedWhat is the best part of working at the company? Good work location. Monday to Friday. Free uniform. In house training What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Hiring people based on a referral program & not based on skills, knowledge, training, qualifications and security experience. Promoting staff internally without advertising both internal & external to find the right person with the right credentials, the right experience, right knowledge, the right attitude, qualifications. Constantly breaching workplace contract with client on so many work related issues. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Terrible in the end. People who could hardly speak a word of English. Inadequate training. Promoting employees based on friendship & not skills, knowledge, training, qualifications & experience. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Court room searches. Manning X-Ray machine. Sitting inside court cases. Internal roves of facility. Attending security, first aid & OHS incidents.

Security Officer (Current Employee) - Port Moresby - 6 September 2023
I always love the job to do in a daily basis and meet new people and learn new experiences by sharing of information, skills and ideas and work according to the rules and regulation set up by the management. In the work place I always maintain customer service and provide the best security and safety to the clients at all time. The hardest part of the job is when the communication break up, delaying of transport, lack of cooperation and assistant. However, the most enjoyable part of the job is when the team spirit is maintain at all time.
Pros
No free lunch
Cons
No breaks

Good
Control Room Operator (Current Employee) - Australia - 2 August 2023
A typical day would include monitoring cameras, answering phones, emails, issuing keys and delegating tasks to colleagues, as well as logging of events. The hardest part would be the long work week which is alleviated by the long time off.

Prison Officer (Former Employee) - Truganina VIC - 25 July 2022
Work life balance is great you do get good time off through out the year. Management don't care about staff and don't want to hear anything constructive if it's going to cost money

Worst management & company I have ever known.
Court Security Officer (Current Employee) - Frankston East VIC - 18 July 2022
Misinformation & very poor employee retention - for a reason. Failure to provide even basics, such as uniforms. No ongoing training or incentive for personal development ot advancement. This company has a revolving door of hiring, when they receive kick-backa from government.

Not for the sensitive or faint hearted.
Supervisor (Current Employee) - Truganina VIC - 22 March 2022
Negative atmosphere. Toxic environment. Lack of managerial support. Excessive workload and expectations. Definite “clicks” that are awarded all considerations including advancement. If you’re not a “yes” person, you will struggle here.

G4S are more interested in achieving KPI’S and profit than Officers safety’s
Correctional Officer (Current Employee) - South Australia - 24 September 2020
The job itself is not physically or mentally hard in the day to day tick and flicks. The prisoners can be emotionally draining and needy and this becomes mentally draining on officers. The is some great comradeship but sadly there is also serious workplace bullying that often management allows as it keeps officers disunited allowing management all the control and they will leave you running short staffed to save a buck or have officers cover other people’s roles due to lack of staffing.
Safety is definitely NOT G4S’s top priority. Prisoners have more rights than officers with no real consequences for poor prisoner behaviour other than a regime reduction.
Prisons should never ever be run as a business!
Pros
3 days a week, 12 1/2hr shifts but lots of days off and annual leave
Cons
Management care more about KPI’s And budgets not staff safety

Never work here
Court Officer (Former Employee) - Bendigo VIC - 4 May 2020
I was bullied out of this company by my site supervisor because he hated females and he got rid of every female before me. He made my working life miserable and yet when I complained to upper management nothing was done.

Buyer Beware
Site Supervisor (Former Employee) - 4750 W Oakey - 17 November 2019
My husband had the misfortune of being employed for this company, through an acquisition with the United Healthcare contract who they obtained through low bidding the previous acquired company, He was the site supervisor the site he was on Which is a madhouse on a daily basis, from not having enough places for patients to park, reserved space for the whinny high school bad doctors that are employed there, to acts and threats of violence against the staff, and security always having to remove them, this place could use some improvement, as a supervisor for G4S, my husband endured so much on a daily basis, his immediate supervisor was an incompetent, spineless joke of a supervisor who clearly didn’t know what he was doing at all! My husband was fired because of an incident that started behind an elevator, and a conversation he had with the company who runs the security contract, where in his silence while being “reprimanded” he was deemed aggressive and was taken off the contract, and was supposed to be placed at another contract but had to go through 10 hour training that was to be done by email, he never received that email by the way. The Las Vegas staff are not good, who don’t know anything, truly a lack of management, HR is not stable and you no one ever answers the phone at the Las Vegas office, work for this company only if it is a last resort. You’ve been warned, they don’t appreciate anything you do!
