Gartner is a large company with a strong track record of success. They didn’t cut many jobs during covid, and in general are fairly well run. The people are very nice and smart. Where the company lacks is compensation and promotion at lower levels. There is a lot of middle management and the promotion timeline is long. Additionally, gartner pays less than consulting despite being pretty similar to it.
Pros
Work life, people
Cons
Pay, promotion

Gartner has good benefits and competitive compensation, but it can be difficult to advance, especially in IT. Some managers are very good and get teams to work together, and others are less good. I had one of each, and recent reorganizations have made things a bit worse in terms of management.
Pros
Competitive Compensation, Low Stress
Cons
Hard to Advance, Not Focused on IT

The people were great and the company is solid, but the metrics driven culture is completely all encompassing. If you get a good territory it can be a one way ticket upward, but get a bad territory and it's only a matter of time before you are out the door.
Pros
Good Benefits, Pto
Cons
Metrics Focus doesn't have the clients best interest at heart

Gartner will work you hard, but the benefits were great and I was able to work remotely. Too many managers, not enough workers though, they try not to be silo'd but they end up with work silos. Mixed messages from management can be confusing at times. Tend to think promotion through ranks as a measure of employee worth as opposed to focusing on quality of work and valuing employee work-knowledge. Merit and compensation are confused. They can say they want one thing but reward another.
Pros
Benefits, remote work
Cons
workload, measurement

Gartner is a great company with range of capabilities within the organization that one can take on. The management is friendly and easily accessible with easy to communicate across geographies and hierarchies. Workplace is pleasant with lots of positive team building activities. The most enjoyable part of the job is that client problems are so exciting that you love discussing with the subject matter experts and analysts.

When you work at Gartner, you represent the leading IT research company in the world. This is a huge competitive advantage. Gartner can be a great company to work for but a lot depends on getting a good territory with a low comp plan otherwise life can be very stressful. Great perks but excessive travel. Overall I would recommend Gartner.
Pros
Compensation
Cons
Excessive Travel

Fun work place everyone mostly worked as a team. Stressful at the end of the month. Closing of the month and getting reports done and NCE reps making their monthly mark can be stressful. Helping the NCE Reps with there e-mails and letters to clients.
Pros
Free lunch or breakfast some times
Cons
Short breaks

Pros: - Extremely capable management - A lot of learning and growth opportunities - Friendly co-workers and overall collaborative environment - Not as bureaucratic as other similarly sized companies - Work life balance really varies depending on the work group, but seems pretty well balanced across most groups Cons - Salary + benefits for new graduates not as competitive as similar roles at other firms - Relatively conservative corporate culture compared to younger companies - There isn't a large culture around the company itself (i.e. social gatherings/networking between/within business groups not apparent)
Pros
Subsidized food at on site cafeteria, occasional ice cream truck in the summers on campus.
Cons
Relatively conservative corporate culture compared to younger companies

I enjoyed working at this company and really wish I could have stayed, but circumstances out of my control amounted in my resignation. I believe the poor management and strenuous relationship between the IT Department and the Business Department produced unfair working environments through improper allocation of funds and resources. At first, I was underused or not working at all - no one gave me anything to do. Then I was given the work of a team of 8. I completed that work primarily on my own, but eventually a second team member was assigned to work with me and we finished the gigantic redesign and redevelopment nearly a year after the business team needed it - then they planned to redo it again. I resigned shortly after.
Pros
Transportation from train station, healthcare, 401k
Cons
Management, expensive lunches, expensive area to live
