Good org to work for. Challenging during Covid, but believe we are on the right track towards bouncing back and supporting our clients to bounce back.

SMB Account Executive

Their best years are behind them. Gartner used to be a much better company to work for however as they've grown and become more corporate, the culture greatly suffered.

Excellent growth

Fantastic culture, great pay and benefits. Work very hard but pays off. Not a lot of work/life balance, but lots of room for growth, advancement and recognition

Good company

Best b2b tech consulting Company, it’s a mba on steroids. However, depending on your luck you will have a better or worse performance. Territories are shrinking and there are 10 aes where there should be 2.

Pros

Pay

Cons

Life work balance

Good pay, no travel, but confusing metrics

Not the best company to work for in sales. Much better if you are an analyst or leadership partner. Helping customers see the value of the service is difficult at times. Can appear ethereal.

Pros

Great work/life balance

Cons

Hard to explain what you sell (research & advisory services), Most customers really want consulting or staff augmentation, not research.

Entry Level Sales Dream

Opportunity to make great money, get great IT sales experience, develop awesome network, and make great friends along the way. Don't let being in Fort Myers, FL make it seem bad - for entry level this is a dream job. You'll likely think the grass is greener after being their for a while, but I assure you this is a great place.

A living nightmare working at this company- you have been warned

Gartner was a total whirlwind of working with some great people and absolutely horrible management and metrics. Drink the company Kool aid or be cast out to like a disease. The work we conducted every day was very unfulfilling. Management was completely fake and their expectations were completely unrealistic. I’m back in real estate making twice as much money as Gartner paid and 100x happier. Instead of this company buying $3000 pool tables, maybe it should invest in some ethics classes.

Pros

Good pay, working with some good people, food is great

Cons

Very unfulfilling work, management is fake and overworks everyone to the bone

Getting into consultative sales with Gartner can be described as a dream come true! Brilliant atmosphere, competitive culture, attractive benefits, and bonuses and the opportunity to grow in life, both personally and professionally!

Account Executive

This is a great company for individuals new to the workforce and looking to get into technology sales. The culture varied, although everyone there is very nice and helps one another succeed.

No value for minorities

They make you feel invaluable and tell you that no one at Gartner gets fired, that is a lie. The training was amazing, but if you don't fit in with the social culture or if one trainer doesn't like you, they will make sure no one else likes you. They will start to call you names like "combative, rude, and aggressive" if you have a difference of opinion. This for minorities, especially black women is dangerous! Minorities be aware, all that blessings diversity and inclusion are not necessarily true. Second,

Understand the Interrview Process

Your interview continues beyond the offer letter. Field academy is another component to the interview process for additional screening. Make sure you understand you can still be let go after that five week process.

Work Hard, Play Hard

Gartner was a great company to work for because they gave me extensive training once I joined the company and after training, allowed me the opportunity to run my book of business as I saw fit. They demand sales people go up and beyond the call of duty, which I was all for. The job can get stressful but the work environment made up for the pressure.

Great opportunity to learn all aspects of Information Technology

Gartner is a company that is well respected in the industry - Drink from the Fire hose. In many cases in one day - you could engage a Gartner Analyst and discuss: XML Standards, Telecommunication, RFP IV&V, ERP Sysments, Various area of Security Standards and vendors.... etc.

Great place to work

if you're male or a female without children this is a good place to work I think. Long hours expected and not family friendly. Lots of micromanagement towards the end (2018).

Solid Place To Work

As a remote Account Executive, there are inherent challenges that come with the role, but they are easily overcame with proper guidance and leadership. The benefits are very good, with a stellar HRA matching plan, low cost insurance, and 4% 401k matching. Worst part of the job is that there are too many redundant internal meetings which are very hum drum. Most enjoyable part of the job is that Gartner's name is strong enough to open many doors for CIO's and other high level contacts.

Excellent place to get training

Advancement always seems to be based on sales results and you have to be lucky to get good accounts. Progression depends on being a member of "the Boys Club"

Pros

Great Products and services

Cons

Long hours.

Sink or swim depending on territory

not a great job because there was not much for you to do, oversaturated environment, young inexperienced manager who probably is preppy and highly annoying, recommend taking if your last resort

Great sales training

Interesting people from various backgrounds who are very ambitious. Gartner is a great stepping stone to get into software industry that pays better. Company's product is a very challenging sell in particular if you sell to SMEs in Europe. They provide state of the art sales training.

Pros

Great sales training, interesting people, good product

Cons

Low pay, very competitive
