Solid Company

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
As with most places, if you have a good manager you will go far. There are several sub cultures to navigate, all depends upon the department. Overall leadership is solid and strong. Sales orientated culture, most successful leaders came from sales. Good people, so normally it is a good day as everyone makes it fun.

Pros

Vacation and health benefits

Cons

Frown on working from home, but there is no more room in the Stamford office and there is no plan to find more building space

Good, bad and ugly.

Compensation was great. Senior management to C level support was very bad. They fish in the same old client pool of about 35K clients and are afraid of new growth, and won't spend marketing dollars for growth. Petty issues pop up regularly as middle managers/directors will try to throw you under the bus in order to look good to senior/C level folks. Internal reliance upon cheap labor HB1 visa folks and poor outsourced tech are abysmal to the detriment of all. More time is spent fixing errors than advancing the business. Do work at Gartner for the experience if you can and try to last a year or two but keep your resume/cv fresh.

A very strong culture

Gartner is a very good company. The interview process is considered one of the most demanding in the business. Gartner hires great people from great schools. Currently they are focusing on MBA students from top schools only.

Find a good manager

Affer leaving the company, my direct manager has since retired, and his boss died, so the landscape may have changed into a more employee supportive and less antagonistic environment.
