Not who they say they are
Senior Producer | Project Manager (Former Employee) –  San Francisco, CA8 July 2019
Their written culture is not their lived culture and there is quite a difference between the two (in a bad way). Constant office politics and personal agendas floating around. Severely unorganized at the SF branch. EXTREMELY HIGH TURNOVER, no employment stability, and your chances of actually getting a decent boss are very slim! If you decide to pursue...good luck. You’ll need a lot of it.

Front Desk Clerk/Receptionist (Former Employee) –  Austin, TX5 July 2019
not the most fun but very laid back and quiet. Everyone minds their own business so no drama or anything. Just very boring from my experience. They had a great break room with a Starbucks coffee machine that i adored while there.

Great people, terrible work/life balance
Production Designer (Former Employee) –  Boston, MA20 June 2019
Everyone there is amazing and fun to work with but they work intense hours and will guilt-trip you into working all weekend if they feel you're needed. I would never work there full-time without overtime.

Lack of Knowledge in Account Management

The account managers are not trained on the ins & outs of account management and GPJ policies. It creates a difficult work situation when management does not know the process.
Pros
Employee Owned, Great for traveling abroad
Cons
No opportunity for advancement

It felt like a MNC in a good way. The global outlook of the company and its DNA was very apparent which made you feel good. However, turnover was high which impacted morale at some point.

Hardworking crowd, Difficult Attitudes
Associate Creative Director (Former Employee) –  San Francisco, CA8 January 2019
A bit of a sweatshop approach to creative and design - but great client exposure and access to big brand installations. The creative leaders operate individually in silos and collaboration between the events team and operations is a bit chaotic.

Pay is terrible but atmosphere is exciting and I felt like I learned a lot in the role. It is a role best temporary to build your resume skills and establish new skills.

Fun culture and great people to work with. Difficult to manage work loads and the pay does not compensate the amount of hours you work. New organization structure could help in the long run

Floor Supervisor/Graphic Tech (Former Employee) –  Lavergne, Tennessee19 April 2018
Most people who have worked here have been here for years. The temps have been here for years as well without being hired on but the company doesn't seem much use in hiring on the sewing dept. Union workers have it made, great job, great benefits especially if youre a dedicated worker. Its really more of a seasonal job. Auto shows are the biggest customers
Pros
Long lunches, stress free
Cons
Seasonal work, summer time is slow

Great Benefits..
Purchasing Clerk (Former Employee) –  Auburn Hills, MI5 September 2017
Company has clean accomodating work environment. Flextime for salaried employees; ability to work at home; overtime after 40 hours for hourly workers. Great benefits.

Company is top heavy and slow to respond to work needs of employees. Management may not always be knowledgeable in regard to work process, and in some departments totally lacking in leadership skills. There are pockets of discontent.

Culture mixed bag, likes new ideas, but lacks hands on resources to maintain them.

Client Services Intern (Former Employee) –  Auburn Hills, MI13 September 2016
GPJ was a great place to work. The environment is easy going however at the same time hard working. It was a great place to learn more about the experience marketing world.

Contractors- Events (Housing and Registration) (Current Employee) –  CA NV events11 May 2016
LOVE this company because the quality of what they provide is awesome.
I had the opportunity to work some of the largest national conferences - yes you work long hours but everyone works hard with you and sets the example.
GPJ also takes care of it's staff making sure they are fed and watered during the long days, and compensated above average for the work they do.
Pros
Great culture staff meals and accom on-site

#1 ranked global event and experience marketing agency
Event Program Manager (Current Employee) –  San Carlos, CA25 November 2014
I have had the opportunity to work on some of the best and biggest events in the high-tech industry from concept to onsite execution. At GPJ you definitely put in long hours and hard work, but after a successful event and happy clients, it was all worth it. I work with amazing, creative, strategic people every day. It's inspiring!

GPJ offers great health benefits, PTO and an ESOP. Growth/Advancement is not so great. There isn't much room to grow up/out of current position(s). Pay scales are ok for agency standards, but don't increase much year over year.

New changes in upper management are exciting and they are bringing fresh ideas to move the company forward.
Pros
Esop, working on high-level events
Cons
Career growth is poor

Fun and exciting company developing brand loyalty for our clients.
Engineer detailer / CNC Programmer (Current Employee) –  Torrance, CA29 August 2014
George P Johnson is a great company to work for. We build Trade show Exhibits for major corporations. This is very fast paced building environment because of strict time restrictions due to Show date deadlines.
