Ghanda Clothing Employee Reviews

Ghanda can be a good place to work. But if you do work there, expect to get stuck doing an all day shift by yourself. Management sometimes wouldn't even try to replace someone who called in sick, therefore leaving you by yourself. And management will tell you you're not allowed to close the store to have your lunch break, you are expected to eat at the counter in between customers. In which on very busy days is impossible. You will also be rostered to open at 9am, but are expected to clock on 10-15 mins earlier to set up the store. And again with close, staying back longer than rostered especially if there are any discrepancies. And you are not paid properly for it, they'll give you a 'bonus' which could be an extra $5 for the half hour extra, but you're not paid you're hourly rate for that extended time you are there outside of your rostered hours.

Literally the most toxic workplace

It is the most clique-y type store. No one will speak to you until you’re considered ‘acceptable’, it’s like a hazing initiation. All the new Christmas casual staff got invited to a Christmas party, but I found information that said how the new employees coming to the xmas party would be so inconvenient. Very judgey company

Job was advertised for way more than I’m actually getting paid. Company doesn’t care about overworking staff as long as they make $$$. Regional managers talk down to you like you’re a child in a classroom. No rostered hour/ week guarantee. You just get work when they need you. Expect to be doing 4 things at once ALL ON YOUR OWN

Managers don’t care about staff members

I worked at ghanda clothing for over a year and it all seemed ok until one day they decided they wanted to replace all old staff members so they slowly started to cut staff memebers off one by one by not giving them shifts and then just ghosting them without telling them they don’t have a job anymore , plus shifts are very iffy sometimes working 6 days a week other times working 1 shift a week

Assistant Store Manager (Former Employee) - NSW - 18 June 2023

Seemed like a positive, cool vibed place to work initially. Then soon enough the unpaid extra hours, unrealistic expectations of doing 7 jobs at once & little to no support from upper management hit like a tonne of bricks. The company screams ocean state & peace, love & happiness but treat their staff like disposable numbers. They hire & fire with the profit dollar as the main focus. Work load is ridiculous, especially for ‘retail’, promises are empty & the culture of management, regionals, especially national manager was toxic at best. I would warn people to stay away from this place as potential employment. It’s not a healthy environment on any level.

I love working at Ghanda, it’s my favorite clothing store and everyone is so nice and fun to work with. At Ghanda you always have something to do and it’s never boring, it’s very fun & I love it. Only thing I would say is to update the playlist more regularly as you can get sick of the songs especially if you’re there more than once a week. You always hear the same songs more than once in a shift which can be annoying. Overall I love working with Ghanda.

don’t waste your time

don’t get me wrong it’s an okay discount, but not worth all the drama, stress and lack of higher duties pay. our store manager left and our regional had 2 weeks warning… it’s a month later and we still don’t have a store manager. the jobs of store manager have fallen onto 4 casuals who ARE NOT getting paid for higher duties. according to the retail award we are under fair work australia states that if we are managing 4 or more people including ourselves we are categorised as at lease a level 3 retail employee and should be getting paid more for when we are that level of employee.

Casual Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Chermside QLD - 1 March 2023

The job started out well to begin with but within a week or two it was obvious that cliques were already in place. You are constantly pushed to talk to customers which can feel invasive and often turn the customers away. You welcome them and provide help if needed but management expect you to keep on at them and if you don’t then you’re threatened that your shifts will be cut. A lot of the time if we didn’t make budget that day we would be sent home, which is understandable but it was always the same staff sent home time and time again. I would be one of the last to start for the day and one of the first to finish when there had been people clocked in before me. Management began to get snarky very fast and the attitude towards myself and the other girls made us feel very uncomfortable. It was as though they picked and chose who they wanted to be friendly with one week and roster them in then, and then switch up and he hardly in the next week. The work environment completely unrelaxed and I even felt as though management was aggressive in the way they would talk. I stayed for as long as I did because I needed the money over the Christmas season but once I found a new job I left as soon as I could. For management understood anxiety and mental health, they had one of the biggest negative impacts on mine. The atmosphere was like high school and almost every shift had me going home feeling unhappy and not wanting to go in the next day. As team members we weren’t allowed to talk to other staff but on the other hand management could talk to whoever they wanted about personal conversations -
