Fun and Insightful Vacation Work
Vacation Student (Former Employee) - Mount Isa QLD - 26 July 2023
Good responsibility and a range of different opportunities on the job. Large vacation student cohort which makes it fun. Pay is below average compared to other mining companies but the fun and exposure you get is worthwhile

Safety is worker focussed
Underground Loader operator (Former Employee) - Mount Isa QLD - 22 September 2022
The company places a high focus on safety, and a higher focus on the individual being responsible for their own safety. If you get hurt because of something you did wrong, then there's no sympathy from the company. But if you get hurt from equipment failure
Pros
Even time roster
Cons
Working underground is not for everyone

Old dogs
Mine assistant (Former Employee) - Gfm - 21 June 2022
Older crews with low to no movement Want the job but won’t work for it Laziness runs rampant, dust can be an issue Have to fight to get trained or be in the purple circle
Pros
Home every night
Cons
Culture is draining

Good pay but unhealthy lifestyle
Truck Driver (Former Employee) - Rolleston QLD - 28 May 2022
Excellent pay being the mining business, but living in a camp with lots of 40 year old men in the middle of nowhere isn't the best life. Most people are just there for the pay, and knowing someone in the business really helps to get a job there.

Stressful
Development supervisor (Former Employee) - EHM - 9 April 2022
No communication, very poor leadership, next to no training, very little or next to no mentoring as to what the company would be expecting from employees.

No leadership

No vision, no work ethics, full of politics, no team work, back biting , Pathetic !
IT (Former Employee) - Mount Isa QLD - 27 March 2021
Work culture is very very toxic ! From top to bottom everyone is playing role in making the culture toxic. Management inclusive at Mount Isa Mines knows every thing and they are part of the politics. It took me one year to leave that toxic work place, only because they get you to work at least one year otherwise you will have to pay the relocation cost. And this problem is not only in one department, its across the board in Mount Isa Mines.
Pros
Rdo
Cons
Toxic culture, work politics back biting, no team approach.

Jobs at Glencore
unproductive and backstabbing environment
Engineering Manager (Former Employee) - Collinsville QLD - 12 February 2020
There were a few good people who worked hard, gave a lot and were an asset to the business. Unfortunately, most managers were absolutely incompetent or lacked moral fiber and tried to take the credit when in actual fact their skill set was limited, management skills dismal.
Rather wanted drones than competent staff under them.
Pros
Leaving
Cons
paid for 8hrs, wanted 12 hr days

Underground Fitter (Former Employee) - R62 / x41 /rebuild w shop/ site services - 9 February 2020
This company gave me the tools and training to gain all the skills needed in my trade and more . Left only to be closer to family, could have spent a lifetime there.

Fulfilling experience and gained a lot of knowledge
Mechanical Drafter - SolidWorks (Former Employee) - Mount Isa QLD - 28 January 2020
Working on a mine site has its challenges. The Superintendent was very welcoming and supportive through my time at MIM. I gained invaluable experience in many new areas; pipe routing, 3D scanning and working with point to cloud
