Productive and supportive working environment
Barista (Former Employee) - Woodcroft NSW - 22 October 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIts a really busy and fast paced working environment. It can be hectic at times, especially during peak hours. The environment is only good to work if the manager isn't around and if you're friends with your shift mates otherwise. The only good thing is that it pays well and you get free food and drinks. (Mainly if the manager isn't around).
Pros
Free food and beverages
Cons
No breaks

Barista (Current Employee) - St Clair NSW - 19 September 2023
Very nice and engaging workplace, people are super nice, very chill and relaxing except for rush hour Hours are flexible and easy to work around, like how I dont have to wear the uniform but they should pick other colours other than black

Jobs at Gloria Jean's Coffees
Fast paced
Barista/All Rounder (Former Employee) - Adelaide Region SA - 19 September 2023
It’s nice work but you have to be fast at it. Managers are nice and very understanding but they’ll make you move faster during peak hours which can be a lot

Ok for fill in work, would not recommend for anything more than that. Horrible company to work for, but the coffee is nice
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Mackay QLD - 7 May 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? No loyalty to staff, Management are rude to staff in front of customers. Not a nice place to work. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Loyalty not returned via shifts. Gossiping and nastiness from other staff. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Bad. Will replace ft hrs with next to nothing, no notice given, if they can find jnrs to replace you. High standards and loyalty expected from staff, none from management or head office. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Running around like a headless chook whilst management and senior staff do nothing but bark orders

Is okay to work for
Pay isn’t that great and long hours to work. Favouritism is present with owner and manager but other coworkers are great to work with. Wish there was more money involved

Can be good
Crew Member (Current Employee) - Logan City QLD - 5 March 2023
Not bad for the pay, although very lenient not much authority from managers and above. Other than that everyone’s hard working and get along well. Good for side job.

Pretty good for beginner work experiences
Café All Rounder (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 20 November 2022
It is a nice place to start working at during your teens, you can make decent money to save up and experience what it's like to work at a cafe. Overall a decent experience, the only annoying parts of the job are cleanup (dishes, tables, mugs) and disposal (stock debris, cardboard and rubbish), but everyone doesn't like that.
Pros
Free drinks, nice co-workers
Cons
The hours are pretty long, 9-6 instead of a regular 9/10-5

alright but it was alot to do on the first day
casual (Former Employee) - nsw - 7 November 2022
never go to jobs that hire you on the spot. you need to have experience beforehand for a job like this but can teach you how to hustle and take things seriously

It's a good place to work at, people are fun to work with
Barista (Former Employee) - Blacktown NSW - 20 September 2022
It's a good place to work at, people are fun to work with but the pay is minimum wage and always short staffed. Had an amazing team but the staff shortages meant double shifts or extra hours and didn't get paid extra for doing so.
Pros
Made amazing friends
Cons
Long hours and short staff

I worked as a Barista, and everything at Gloria Jeans was such fun. I had a great time working there. Everyone was very friendly, I don’t have anything bad to say about this workplace as it is one of the best.
Pros

Cons
None

Great people to get along with
Café Assistant (Former Employee) - Kippa-Ring QLD - 5 August 2022
Great place to work friendly people around you to help you out. Great people all around you. Don’t think of it as interviewing or working think of it as hanging out with a few friends.
Pros
Free drink on shift
Cons
Lunch rush can be tough

Not a great place to work
Worked at Gloria Jeans Ascot- and was promised things in the interview that sadly did not translate to the job. Management is very two-faced and will cut you down if you don't follow them. Rosters wouldn't come out until the day before and always changing due to people leaving which is just further proof of what its like to work there.
Pros
Good collegues
Cons
Unreliable. Biased

Terrible place to work
Barista/All Rounder (Current Employee) - Nowra NSW - 14 March 2022
You aren’t paid superannuation, payslips aren’t given out, management is terrible and talks badly about staff to other staff members, not a secure job or one you can even particularly advance in, lack of hours and no loyalty to long term and hardworking staff

The place is not to bad to work for but some franchises are horrible
Shift Supervisor (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 25 January 2022
I get paid under minimum wage and it’s horrible. I’m constantly upheld to a managers expectation when I’m just a supervisor. I am always called in to cover for people who don’t show up and I get 5 minute breaks at a time!!
Pros
Free lunches
Cons
Long hours with little breaks

Slow paced environment easy to learn even with no related experience, good first job for teens and young adults
Barista (Current Employee) - Rockingham WA - 23 January 2022

Pros
Easy going boss, solves problems straight away
Cons
Managers can be unfair
