Career progression and promotion almost impossible unless your a favourite, no loyalties to long standing nurses, wards full of junior and inexperienced nurses

Pros

Good rostering system that fits accomodates requests

Cons

Favouritism amongst nurses, very clicky

The toxicity is a problem

I’ll preface this by saying that I am a nursing student that was given placement here for upwards of eight weeks a number of years ago. So I wasn’t paid (standard) but they still expected the students to arrive at least 15 minutes early to debrief. They expected me to take on 5-7 patients (post op) in the first week of my placement. They would expect you to BEG preceptors(a different one every day) to fill out feedback forms (on top of all your other placement work) every.single.day. Basically a performance review every shift. The toxicity from management was mental. Even just walking past the admin desk every day you could hear them talk in a very unprofessional way to other staff. The computer systems end at the front desk- if you’ve got a doctor with messy handwriting, you better pray that staff can interpret it correctly and at the right dosage. Sometimes we would go looking back into patient charts just to find a doctors handwriting to compare it to what we needed to interpret at the current time (charts are upwards of 300 pages each).

Pros

I guess I completed placement? Barely?

Cons

Too many to list.

Weekly operating list performing oral surgical procedures on private patients. The admission process, patient experience from entering the hospital to having their procedure done and being discharged, overall is very good.

Not enjoyable

Workplace bullying is a huge issue from staff, NUMS and Management; which is a known issue with HR but nothing gets done. Lack of training for new staff. Staff overworked with lack of support or help from management in fixing that. Poor morale on the wards, incompetent nursing staff on wards.

Great Work exsperience

Loved the training, as I was still keen to work for nothing for 3 weeks. Loved learning new things in a hospital environment. Management very professional and very friendly. Although Supervisors, Very Aggressive, Loud, Foul mouthed and very rude.I feel they had no people skills when it came to supervising and working in a Team Enviroment. Loved working with patients, they made my day at work worth it.

Pros

Serving and listening to Patients stories

Cons

Supervisors very Unproffessional, Loud, Foul Mouthed Woman.Power Trippers, that had no exsperience working in a team Enviroment.
