Varied role with great people

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Plenty of training opportunities, varied work, a good place to learn and start your career - whether open pit or underground. Very friendly people who are always willing to help. Good workplace culture at St. Ives. Beautiful site, driving in and out on the causeway through Lake Lefroy!

Good employee benefits

Good employee benefits, bonus’s when targets are met. positive team environment, family friendly week on week off roster. Very safety focused like all mining companies. Great company to work for.

Great company, loved working with them, new camp, good people.

Loved working with Gold Fields, enjoyed it immensely. Good roster, plenty to do after work if you like, gym, soccer, a nice amenities room, darts etc.

Pros

Bonuses, good life style roster

Cons

Nothing, its the lifestyle you choose, if it wasn't for covid id still be there, I live East Coast and worked west Coast.

Smoke & Mirrors

All show, no substance. No interest in change, too many ego’s and not enough will to be innovative or challenging. Nothing but lip service and an impotent management system only interested in keeping their mates happy instead of having the fortitude to excise dead weight.

Great mine to work at

Good show still has long life ahead, camp is pretty good week on week off roster. Food not to bad Foxtel in all the rooms. Most quarter you’ll get a bonus if you hit targets what we do.

Pros

Good food

Cons

Fly out day??? Still not right

Professionally challenging but rewarding organization to work for

Gold Fields had provided technological advances in mineral exploration techniques. Geologists were provided with GIS and other related geological software training (ArcGIS, Leapfrog, ioGas). The company had also sent me to training in Australia after which was given exploration assignment in various exploration projects (South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland). There was active interaction between corporate experts in various fields (health and safety, CSR, legal, finance, geochemistry, geophysics, resource modelling, and project management) in order to ensure efficient flow of exploration initiatives.

Pros

Training, seminars and provision of software packages to company laptops.

Cons

Volatile organizational structure

Full on hard work but the week off is good

Underground is not for everyone I did it for 7 years and being away from home over that long period of time took its toll on me but I enjoyed it while it lasted and miss most of the people I worked with.

Pros

Time off

Cons

Dangerous and under paying

Proactive enviorment

I have worked with Gold IFled for the short period of time but it was a nice experience with Mining industry as company culture is very proactive instead of reactive. Staff is very helpful and pointed me in the right direction always.

Great team and supervisor to work with. The management team listen to any questions or concerns you have and do their best to find a solution, the company encourages you to put ideas forward. Over all a good palce to work and good company to work for.

challenging assignment.

Was a somewhat difficult work culture to change as no laboratory manager was available for six months prior to my arrival and work conditions and morale had deteriorated somewhat. I took up the position to help out, traveling the 52 kms each way each day and being on 24 hr call out but, eventually had to return to running the delicatessan of which I was a senior partner.

small knit crews

cultivated way of life and work good base around safety not a huge mine and contractors and workers get along. typical day is muster room meeting and in detail work schedule, I learned many things about people. co workers were tight knit. hardest part of the job was stopping for lunch. most enjoyable part of the job was driving.

productive and fun place to work

a typical day on a mine site involves extreme conditions. working in remote areas in western australia is tough. I've learnt a lot about underground mining in the past 9 years in the industry. management onsite are very fair and good at running the mine. I work with a great bunch of people, moral is very high. hardest part is working in the heat. most enjoyable is the time off from work.
