Stressful without security
Senior Environmental Scientist (Former Employee) - Perth Central Business District WA - 8 March 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGolder was a technically very capable consultancy, with a good professional culture. It has increasingly become a very poor work/life balance with work hours of 50+ per week. There is no serious advancement unless you buy it (buying shares). Management is self interested and cares little for the skills and interests of staff. There are better companies to work for.
Cons
Long hours

Toxic environment, old boys club
Geotechnical Engineer (Former Employee) - Brisbane Australia - 1 October 2020
Poor management, over rated and greedy. Rely too heavily on past victories. No help or support provided when needed. Lost direction as a consequence of a revised management structure.
Pros
none
Cons
No future with no shares

goog group of people
Project Accountant (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 13 January 2020
nice group of people to work with. Some of the long standing associates could be very crass and demanding at times. Often given very short deadlines and expected to stay behind to finish even if it was after hours .

Business Support Manager, Associate (Current Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 21 September 2018
The management team and culture at Golder is fantastic. It is like one big family! The company provides fantastic learning and growth opportunties for it's staff. Would recommend Golder to anyone starting out their career in consulting.

Breakout area with table tennis table, good coffeee machine and lovely views
Senior CAD Draftsperson/Technical Illustrator (Former Employee) - St Leonards NSW - 18 September 2018
This company is productive and innovative, with lots of diverse engineering disciplines. I enjoyed working for this company, and made a lot of friends. The culture is one of mutual respect and teamwork.
My day began with coffee and a quick reassessment of deadlines. Chargeables were measured in 15 minute intervals, and I averaged 30 - 35 chargeable hours per week, often working back to achieve this.
I relished the challenge of presenting analytical data, survey plans, geotechnical cross sections, civil design, mapping, EIS, whatever was necessary. I enjoyed the satisfaction of contributing to a team outcome, and being responsible for my own quality input. There was a huge volume of work, and I was busy every day.
Pros
Trust, fascinating industry

Terrible work place with very poor management
Project Engineer (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 16 September 2017
Golder is a horrible place to work at. The management is extremely poor and the associate and principal system they have in place is very outdated and inefficient.
Pros
Hardly any
Cons
Terrible management, very unfaithful to employees

Market changes
ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST / CONSULTANT (Current Employee) - melbourne - 21 July 2015
Started as a graduate here, with 2 great years, with a fantastic culture and where I felt I had opportunities for my career and personal development. The past 1.5 years have been hard and overall I have received negligible pay increases and dwindling work in the space I am interested in.
Pros
initial culture, young professionals group
Cons
lack of pay increase, lack of sustainability work
