Work life balance

Some places of guardian is prefet, some places are lack of Management and shortly staff, ignore the ratio.Working on the Nursery room is too much physically, emotionally cause lower back pain.

Productive and fun

Enjoyed working at guardian great management and overall support. Environments are beautiful and well resourced. Training provided and ongoing professional development

Toxic environment

Not great leadership team, very competitive and not transparent and not supported. Would not recommend Guardian as an employer. Felt bullied by Operations Managers and CEO in particular.

Disappointing

If you are permanent you are treated kind of well, if you are casual people can be very mean to you. A lot of people are there only for the pay not for the children.High staff turn over.Big systems in place, that is good.People from main office are totally disconnected from the reality on the floor.

Pros

The children

Cons

Low pay, no work advancement, higher positions clearly not culturally diverse, clearly seen by which people are on the floor and which people can achieve higher positions

Stressful and Biased

I only lasted at Guardian for about five months and everyday I came home stressed and unhappy. They require you to do extensive programming ON THE FLOOR. They gave so little programming and observation time at work so I had to bring paperwork home. It was awful. The management was a mess. Prideful and biased. Yes they can have a say on how to run a room of course but everyday they would come in and criticise routines and every other tasks that you’re doing (then change their minds the next day) e.g they didn’t allow the children to go outside when UV was 8 but when one of the management had to be on the floor, all of a sudden the children can go outside even when the UV was 11. It seems that they do not realise what the workers go through. They also have a lot of favourites- only a few can leave early, take in their suggestions but decline others or prioritise them for early shifts etc.

Pros

None

Cons

Money hungry

A company that strives to be the best it can be and delivers.

I have worked here for almost 9 years, and I still love what I do. I am proud to work for a company that puts the children and its employees first. The Leadership team listen and are open to ideas. I can honestly say there are no limits to what you can achieve if you are passionate about what you do.

Pros

The flexibility, the opportunities to try different things, to move interstate, into other departments, the support from management.

Toxic

The manager shae at guardian Forrest was biased and favoured people of certain background! Rooms are crowded with children but a lack of educators to support them ! Unreliable rosters and toxic management who aren’t willing to understand and support your situation. Qualification and experience isn’t valued if you do hold a certain ethnic background ! Often asked to stay back to cover ratios but hardly got paid for overtime

Child focused, inclusive practice, are part of work culture.

The company cares about staff, Hard work never gone unnoticed. Mixed shift times are great, with one short shift. On going opportunities for professional development.

Collaborative team

I am fortunate enough to have a collaborative team and a manager that can handle her branch well enough to provide us work life balance. It is rare to find such people/ team.

poor higher management

centre was lovely and good team culture. higher management was not supportive when the centre needed it. Guardian didn’t prioritise what the centre needed especially for health and safety of the children, budgets came before the children and staff
