Great way to grow and move up ladder. Learning and development training available promotions are easy to come by due to such high turnover of staff (which is normal for remote living).

It’s a nice place to work but it’s really repetitive and boring there not much to do outside of work management is pretty good nothing really to complain about there

Stressful work environment

Not enough hours in the day to get the job done. High staff turnover meaning constantly setting up new starters and then terminating them a few months later. Management recognise long hours and don’t do anything about it.

Been working here for the past 7 years. Only few Seniors staff will help you grow and willing to teach you but depend where is your department. Save a lot of money

Hamilton Island made me feel like I could do anything. I had quite a few different jobs there. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a beautiful lifestyle.

A great place to work and play

Hamilton Island is a great place one being its location.Good climate if you love the tropical weather. Great place to take your boat or jetski around the many islands. Working for the waste & recycling department was good pay ,a physical job but kept me fit and healthy .The only down side is living and work in your workplace can get a bit much.There are strict rules of what you can and can't do on the island outside of work hours as it is a resort.

Productivity vs relaxed

Relaxed atmosphere generally, however fast paced at times depending on the emergency of the job.8 hrs of work a day, had time to go spear fishing after work, or catching squid.Plenty of ways to spend your money very quick. IGA store has prices elevated above normal retail, obviously for the paying customers.Smoko truck comes around to each department through the day, reasonably priced food and tastes good too. Discounted activities for island workers.The culture is a sad part, there are people there that shouldn't be in the position, coveting power and even abusing it, man did I want to Knock out a couple of idiots. Besides that it's not a too bad, find a good trustworthy crew of people that helps. There are some really amazing individuals there and from all over Australia and the world

I worked in I.T on the island and covid redundancy was the only reason I had to leave. I would go back if they asked. Fantastic team and very freidnly staff

a typical day at work was fun and enjoying you get to meet a lot of great customers and friends along the way. the work culture there is fabulous your teammates are friendly the bosses are friendly and understanding.

Think about going to work at 4am knocking off at 12, going to the gym then hanging out at the beach with all your new friends.. went for 6m stayed 14!!

Pros

Multi hire (getting to work in all different departs), I had an amazing boss that would go above and beyond for all his staff

Cons

Pay can be less but I was fine with it, just check when in the interview if it’s right for you!!

great group of like minded people

my 10 months spent on hamilton island were some of the most memorable of my life. From beginning to end the whole process of empoyment there was of complete ease. Being able to work with a diversified team made every day exciting. the work life balance was decent. I'm certain in years to come i will be asking very nicely for my old job back !

days are hot & humid,I learnt how to work with non english speaking people, management is great, when you come to work & do your work, they are always there to help you.Everyone works tireless despite the humidity, the hardest part would be the language barrier, the best part was working & meeting so many different people from all walks of life.

　島内にあるレストランのひとつで働いていました。従業員同士がとても仲が良くアットホームな環境で働くことが出来ました。また、ローカルの人と同じ待遇で働くことができるので、就労意欲も上がります。　グレートバリアリーフの広がるリゾート地なので、休日はシュノーケリングやダイビングも楽しめる最高な職場です。

great after work but terrible during work.

was working on the island as a "services plumber" for over a year. work was ok, very very very poorly organised by manager. Manager was not even qualified for position as has no background in plumbing only gas? As the saying goes "fake it till you make it". management don't care unless it directly affects/benefits them. Couldn't sum it up better my self than someone wrote on the staff bathroom wall - "Hamilton Island - Where second rate tradesmen become managers" Most of the trades people have no clue in regards to work. Island offer "free" training/upskilling only to hold it against you in a 12 month contract. ANY PLUMBERS OR GASFITTER WITH HALF AN IDEA DO NOT GO THERE.

great place to try out lots of different jobs within Hamilton island, I got to take ona few different roles some being setting up for events. a busy and thriving business. great for young people to experience island life. rooms where cleaned to a 5 star standard. learning privacy and integrity is a must
