Money focused
Registered Nurse Division 1 (Current Employee) - Moorabbin VIC - 9 September 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedStrong emphasise which is not in congruence with staff who simply want to care about people and are not budget focused. Being a big company there are larger systems in place that give a feeling of security however there is also a sense that as a staff member you are merely a number on a excel spreadsheet in a boardroom.

for profit healthcare
Enrolled Endorsed Nurse (Current Employee) - Northern Beaches NSW - 22 August 2023
Deliberate understaffing for cost cutting. No training or support provided. Culture is toxic with zero focus on the patient. Its all how fast can we discharge.

Not a good place
Catering Assistant (Former Employee) - Glen Waverley VIC - 4 May 2023
Biggest mistake I ever made working for this company. The managers sit in their office's all day while their staff work their butts off & have their hours cut continuously. They don't care about the patients or staff here, only about making a profit
Pros
Made some friends
Cons
Minimum pay

Great place to work. Good team who supported each other one when working under stress. Could. Be better places to work but could be worse. It is what you make it

Dangerously understaffed work place
Nurse (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 13 November 2022
Management has no respect for staff. Corners are cut frequently. Staff are unhappy and it shows. There is a serious bullying culture, high turn over of staff. The wards are understaffed, patients and families are left unhappy with service, this then is pinned back onto the nurses for poor customer service. Disrespectful towards personal circumstances of staff members. When issues arise for unsafe working condition conditions, all efforts are ignored.
Pros
ICU staff helpful and attentive. Free parking.
Cons
Long hours, poor management, inexperienced staff, high work load

Not a team environment
Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (Current Employee) - Darwin NT - 4 September 2022
Managers are not helping their staff, they don’t support staff to further their skills. Never have staff meetings and problems always swept under the rug or the manger says what do you want me to do about it. 5 staff have quit from the toxic behaviour

Interesting place to work
Registered Nurse Division 1 (Current Employee) - Wantirna VIC - 4 September 2022
If you get the right manager then things will work for you. Unfortunately due to staff workloads are becoming heavier and heavier. Depending on the team it can get very stressful as well.

Jobs at Healthscope Limited
New owners. New management that cut staff conditions. No collaboration and 14 RN resignations.
Student Nurse facilitator (Current Employee) - Rehabilitation - 4 April 2022
New owners and management created an unhealthy and toxic work environment which lead to 15 staff resignations in last 12 months. I would not recommend nursing in my hospital which is within Healthscope, My workplace is being eroded away by a relentless budget over safety and best practice.
Pros
Loyal staff

Ward really supportive
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) - Glen Waverley VIC - 21 January 2022
Really enjoy working with the people I work with. Everyone is really friendly and it's nice going to work. Even when it's stressful. The team of allied health and nurses and doctors work really well together.
Pros
Really supportive team of doctors, nurses, Num
Cons
Upper management

No Health, No Scope...
Associate Nurse Unit Manager (Former Employee) - Wantirna South VIC - 15 October 2021
Management will continually take and take from you with no appreciation. Overworked, over-stressed. Expectation that you will work in sub-optimal conditions for the love of the job. GM encourages staff to pander to VMOs as they "bring in the money". Very profit driven with a strong business focus much to the detriment of the patients. Always short-staffed. Bullying culture. Management will find loopholes as to not pay personal leave or overtime. EBA is non -transparent. No benefits like salary packaging or extra super. Why would you bother? Stick to the public sector or NFP. Do not work here.
Pros
Friendly staff
Cons
Higher management

just fine not too hard to work much
Disability Support Worker (Former Employee) - Victoria - 3 October 2021
i just prefer to work on the day but it's fine too to work day , afternoon & night. I am not well comfortable working at night because too much work also .Most unexpected happening if they asked something or not feeling well & also required to clean the house & b/rooms. Then have to read all through documents & medications. Check them at least every hour to 2 hrs . Change continence pads . Keep them safe at all times .
Pros
free cofee or you can bring your own drink.
Cons
sometimes too much work loads

They chew you up and spit you out
RN (Former Employee) - Kippa-Ring QLD - 17 July 2021
Always short staffed, staff often have to work double shifts to cover. Poor nurse:patient ratios. Very frequently there are no AIN staff booked to assist, very few orderlies to assist the staff.
Pros
Cheap lunches through the kitchen
Cons
Minimal support from senior staff and management

wouldn’t recommend at all
Assistant in Nursing (Current Employee) - Bella Vista NSW - 8 July 2021
Shifts cancelled Shifts being cut short because of funding Nurse to Patient ratio is dangerous for patients as nurses are not able to care for patients how they should because of this
Pros
other staff is lovely
Cons
cutting of hours, not enough shifts

Pros
Staff were friendly
Cons
High patient loads to staff

Very poor workplace culture. Obvious favouritism at both national and site level
Various Positions (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 13 May 2021
Large turnover due to long-term cultural issues at both national office and facility levels. Lots of favouritism and inappropriate appointments. Example, new Chief Nursing Officer role advertised as requiring x years DON experience. Person appointed (internally) has zero DON experience but is a ‘yes’ person only. Corporate office has a long way to go to align to other healthcare networks and did not take necessary steps to appoint people with extensive experience in these other networks.
Pros
Free onsite parking at most hospitals
Cons
Rewarded people for doing their job and not going over and above.

A fantastic focused company to work for
Victorian Payroll Manager (Former Employee) - Parkville VIC - 11 October 2020
One of the most challenging and satisfying appointments I ever had. They were growing rapidly when I joined and my skill set fitted perfectly with the growing and changing needs of the company. The staff, management and benefits were excellent.

Bad culture
Customer Service (Current Employee) - Hobart TAS - 30 August 2020
Understaffed and over managed. Building and equipment outdated in need of major upgrade. Too many long term employees with outdated skills and controlment issues. Culture is extremely bad amongst older employees making it very hard for new or younger staff. Quality of food has dropped since a supposed upgrade to menu.
