Good place to work
Coordinator (Current Employee) - Chadstone VIC - 9 May 2022
Good work life balance, only need to work hours of employment. Well supported by management. Flexibility given when needed. I find if you ask for help someone id happy to give it, there are plenty of people who have been here a long time who have the information to provide.

stressful and time poor, nothing gets completed well. No time to reflect, review and improve.
Education Manager (Former Employee) - Chadstone VIC - 1 February 2022
a typical day, more than 30 staff needing information, direction, one on one, management meeting, project meetings, scheduling, continuous improvements. the workplace culture is collaborative, friendly, and hardworking. most enjoyable part of the job is managing a great team of dedicated teaching staff. hardest part about the job is not being to do anything well, when you are time poor.
Pros
working with a great team.
Cons
long hours, working weekends, relentless work to be completed.

Relaxed workplace with fantastic staff
Connect Centre Officer (Current Employee) - Moorabbin VIC - 13 January 2020
Causal staff pay is reasonable, however contract wages are not great and there is no opportunities to grow within the company in the same department. There is flexibility to change departments.

What I learnt, how to perfect every make up look.
Management, brilliantly organised
Culture, friendly, skillful and chatty
The hardest part, none.
Enjoyable, learning more about something I am passionate about.
Pros
Learning more about make up
Cons
Went too fast

Revolving door culture
Teacher (Current Employee) - Moorabbin VIC - 9 December 2018
Holmesglen is truly a terrible place to work!! There is a “revolving door” approach in this department- get them in, burn them out, teacher leaves, get fresh victims. I’ve seen it for years! Complaints from students continue to increase because the teachers that stay become jaded and mean.
Pros
Pay is good
Cons
Overworked, disorganised, mean teachers

Not a place for me to grow old in
Senior Educator (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 28 November 2018
Senior management needs to start listening to the people that do the work and not the department heads. A cultural change needs to occur for HOLMESGLEN to improve its staff retention and staff experience.
Pros
People
Cons
Lack of decision making, no direction

I am enjoying my work in assisting international students. My workplace is relaxed and friendly.
International Student Counsellor (Current Employee) - Chadstone VIC - 15 April 2018
There is often not a typical day at my workplace due to working with a high number of students and staff. I am learning a great deal about the education and training sector, including the rewards and limitations. The workplace culture is friendly and easy going, noncompetitive and supportive for the most part. The hardest part of the job is being limited by budget/resources available. The most enjoyable part is community engagement.

Great place to work
Lab Assistant (Former Employee) - Moorabbin VIC - 1 April 2018
In my time, I found the staff and students friendly.
I had good hours and was able to work by myself, while having the support I needed. This was a casual position.

Culturalmente distinta al resto de mis experiencias
remedial massage therapist (Former Employee) - Melbourne, Australia - 3 August 2017

I learn something from my students everyday
Trainer and Assessor (Current Employee) - Glen Waverley VIC - 25 June 2017
Working as a chef for the past 20 years it's time I teach what I've learnt and pass on my knowledge to up and coming chefs and students. Since beginning my apprenticeship at Crown I've learnt many different techniques and worked with a lot of chefs from around the world.
Pros
Watching students evolve to their full potential
Cons
Students that drop out

Life at Holmesglen
Teacher - Sport, Recreation & Fitness (Current Employee) - Glen Waverley VIC - 4 June 2017
Day involves teaching 18-25 year olds about the sport industry and different aspects of it linked to units of competency.
I learned that even in government, the most important thing is how much money the organisation makes and even a TAFE over an private RTO still does not care too much about the students best interest.
The best part of working at a TAFE are good pay and working conditions, but little stability and your creativity, opinion and ideas are of no consequence. The organisaion looks from a negative mindset in terms of how to avoid loss and minimise risk rather than an optimistic one of looking at opportunities for growth and improvement.
Pros
Good Work Hours
Cons
Management restrict creativity
