High expectations with little reward

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
A typical day is busy and fast paced with a huge workload. Poor management who mostly communicate abruptly and aggressively. Militant managerial styles, toxic workplace culture, understaffed with low effort to hire someone new in a reasonable timeframe. Expect alot from their staff with minimal resources.

fast paced

overall quite good. sometimes staff not getting along and management not doing their job though. really good for training and a good long term job to be at

Pros

good hourly pay

Cons

long hours.

Do not apply

Very junior staffing group due to high turnover, placing patients at risk due to significant clinical knowledge deficits. No opportunity for career progression, higher roles given to staff that are favoured and not adequately experienced. Next to non existent nurse education team. High levels of nepotism. Overstaffed. A company that only cares about growing more centres, generating profit, clearly does not care about internal functioning of sites or supporting clinicians. Worst place I have ever worked. Apply at your own risk.

Pros

Free parking

Cons

Everything else

Great managers and supportive staff

Managers were always willing to give a helping hand when we were short staffed. Supervisors very willing to guide and teach you. Pretty chill work environment.

Lovely place to work

It is such a lovely place to work ,the workplace culture is the best I have worked in and that is due to the fantastic Managers. Workplace training is professional and there is always someone there to help with any questions or further training you require. It is a nurturing and friendly workplace.

Fun at first then reality hits and you see the toxicity

The first 6 months were great but then you start to see the cracks in the senior leadership and how they treat their staff. Incredibly siloed with no communication between teams. People too busy empire building than creating good systems. Disconnected between the sites and head office - this was particularly evident during covid when the frontline was expected to maintain normal operations in abnormal circumstances. Prides itself on being fast paced but it is only because they don't know how to implement good systems properly and just dump them on the frontline with no strategy to cement them in. Things prone to chop and change and frontline is playing catch up. Safety has improved but still seems like a tick and flick. Revolving door at head office with a lack of communication to frontline when important positions end up with different people in them. In fact there is a general lack of communication where managers only seem to want to impress the executive team rather than their own staff. Managers aren't held accountable for high staff turnover. No interest from leaders in encouraging personal development or discussing pay rises. The frontline staff do an amazing job in spite of the poor management at head office

Pros

Flexible working hours and remote working options

Cons

High staff turnover, flat hierarchy with no chance of promotion unless you shift teams, quite incestuous with people promoted because they were their the longest, rather than on merit

Dont recommend

Bad working experience. Poor management, bullying and gossiping is rampant. Relatively good pay and working from home are both positives, but not enough to justify the working conditions.

Pros

Relatively good pay and working from home

Cons

Bad working experience. Poor management, bullying and gossiping is rampant

Fast paced, productive with good team spirit

Each day presents challenges of various assortment, team spirit always avails itself to sort those challenges. Good Site Manager input very important in steering and supporting the whole team, which we have. Various administration systems could be updated which would help minimize administration workload, stress and costs overall and provide valuable work satisfaction and work/life balance to administration staff.

Pros

Workload managed in shorter time period.

Cons

exhausting processes

Poor management and understaffed

Poor management - issues raised to management were not resolved which lead to a poor work environment and over worked team. Overtime was a common occurrence so not suitable for those after a work and life balance.

Pros

Monthly star achievers

Cons

Constant overtime, understaffed and big workload

Stressful. Bad management and they just don't care.

Poor communication from management and they expect ridiculous overtime for afternoon shift i.e. up to 3 hours every night with no thanks. Ironically the money is good only when you work OT.But you have no life to spend it on because all you do is work.eat.sleep then repeat. No one cares if your burnt out and expect waiting forever to know if a leave application is approved and keep an eye on your pay as they make so many mistakes in their favour its ridiculous.

Pros

None

Cons

Long hours. Bad management.

I'm trusted and well respected by the doctors, patients and my peers

Working in oncology has both positive and negative attributes but ICON Wesley is a very upbeat and hopeful place to work. The courage of our patients and the trust they bestow in me as Dr Grimes' assistant is very rewarding. I feel a tremendous sense of purpose in my job.

Pros

positivity, building relationships, trust

Cons

emotionally exhausting, not being paid for my seniority

Worst place.ever worked for

Worst Manager ever, doesnt stick to rules, no proper training, we worked back to back shifts with no 10hr break in between. Manager didnt once address our concerns. Our pay was always incorrect they still owe us back pay.

Bullying is accepted

Whilst the majority of the people who work there are fantastic, nursing staff and admin, the lack of help from management is terrible. Poor planning , highly stressful. Patients are fantastic. Bullying is rampant in there. Poor procedures for a place claiming to be a hospital.

Productive, very fast paced environment

A busy hospital pharmacy where you are challenged mentally, physically and at times emotionally. The work place culture is great, everybody gets along really well.

nice environment to work in

Not a bad place to work. Very revenue driven for a private practise. Management are a little hard to deal with. They do a lot of Role cross training which is very helpful in a team outlook for leave and sick leave

Bullying

Bullying is excepted there. Would be nice to work there if everyone new or old employees treated better. Management too busy to be available to assist employees who are not being treated respectfully. And older employees are not always in the right.
