Intrax is a fast-paced company however, the friendly and support staff helps you get through your day. Great place to learn new skills and grow. Collaborative teams and support from team leaders are great.

N/A (Current Employee) - Melbourne CBD - 26 August 2021
A challenging but rewarding environment, I was given the chance to grow and learn extensively which really aided my career progression. I felt as if i had a lot of opportunities to have my say and try out programs/processes I developed.
Pros

No growth or development but good coffee nearby
Structural Engineer (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 26 March 2020
I'm very disappointed to have wasted a full year of my career here. Everyday was a challenge. Management want to control every minute of your working day to the point that you could get questioned when returning from a toilet break.
Its such a big challenge and absolutely draining trying to explain engineering theory to inexperienced managers and to try and diplomatically deflect one horrible idea after the other.
Pay is abysmally low for experienced engineers. Look elsewhere is my sincerest advice.
But good coffee nearby.

Team members were good but toxic work culture and management
Senior Structural Engineer (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 12 February 2020
First the good. Fellow employees are great. In the sense that we're all struggling together.
Now the bad:
Intrax is a residential based firm with most of its projects being single storey and double storey homes with very very little engineering involved. Working here is almost like working on an assembly line in a factory. You have the incredible stress of delivering hundreds of these small copy-paste jobs within a very tight deadline. Meanwhile, you have a very toxic work culture with incompetent and toxic middle and upper management breathing down your neck on every small thing. My sincerest advice to all fellow structural engineers, it to steer away from Intrax.
As a former senior structural engineer, it pains me to say I lost a lot of valuable career time working here. Many engineers there have been pigeon holed into the role and are desperately struggling to leave the company but their experience is not recognized by other engineering firms because most of the projects are very basic and simple. It's almost odd that i have come across many "senior" engineers there who have never even designed a concrete slab.
Finally - salary and wages. Very low. In order to maintain their business structure of super fast delivery and low cost fees, the employees are paid very low. In some instances, engineers were paid the same as admin.

Results oriented company
Team Leader (Former Employee) - Derrimut VIC - 7 January 2020
A lack of direction from upper management was a part of my work experience at Intrax. I was not sure what my exact duties were meant to be. Only after reviews were these duties explained to me.

Good foot in the door, culture great in some teams, pay not so great
Structural Engineer (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 6 August 2019
Great place to start off as a new engineer in the consulting space as you find many different individuals who just start their career. This is due to the annual salary. Intrax are unable to pay their workers well unlike other companies. However, you will be able to learn first principle engineering and management whilst being surrounded in a good culture. The volume housing department is definitely not the place to stick around for too long. Management in some teams are not fit to lead and let down an environment to learn and succeed.
Pros
Learning and flexibility
Cons
Salary $$$

Productive, multicultural accepting organisation
Property Services Information (PSI) Co-ordinator (Former Employee) - 35 Bank St,South Melbourne Vic 3205 - 29 April 2014
Requesting and collating property information such as legal point of discharge of water and easement measurements & covenants (building restrictions; heritage overlays etc.) for blocks of land to give to the draftsman to draw up the plans of the structures.
I learned that the key to completing a property information request accurately and in a timely manner was down to the proficiency of my management skills.
Management are an equal opportunity employer who are easy to communicate with and were open to our opinions and concerns.
My co-workers were supportive.
The hardest part of my job was things that were not in my control such as being reliant on external companies in supplying the relevant information in a timely manner.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the work environment being calm and busy.
Pros
Calm and busy environment
Cons
Reliance on external companies
