Long hours but interesting work

You work on interesting and impactful deals but the hours are really long. You have to be self-sufficient and only ask questions when you really need help. Mentorship is overall great, even after you leave the firm.

What is the best part of working at the company?It was a terrific work environment - a great mix of "calm and crazy". The offices at 30 Rock are beautiful. Benefits are generous. I spent 19 great years there.What is the most stressful part about working at the company?High pressure real time work with the stock market. The most stressful part was often the most invigorating part. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?During my 19 years it was excellent. I was there 1996-2015 and I so very much enjoyed the people and management. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Start at full speed, both development and support - but also I'd be dealing with Compliance, Trading desks and vendors - in real time. No one was staring over your shoulder, as long as the work got done. I managed terrific people and I worked with them during the day. Some days were 9-5, other days were 24 cycles...

A Great place to work and a highly productive work environment.

I enjoyed working with Lazard. The management ran a highly supportive team, and a tight operation. They require a strong work ethic, but maintained a friendly, supportive, professional work environment. I would work with the company again in a heartbeat. They are a five star operation.

Pros

The Christmas bonus was a nice benefit.

Cons

Could have been given a ten minute break here and there, due to job stress, but that is not a deal breaker.

Can be a good place but only with a radical culture shift

It can be a great place to network with other professionals. Most of the new analysts are happy for 6-12 mos. and then they're all looking for a hedge fund or other similar firm to work at. They take their signing bonuses, whatever Apple devices the firm handed out, and run. Management runs the gamut from indifferent to abusive. Sometimes good executives can be found but it's very rare. There isn't a lot of tolerance for anyone who speaks or looks different from mainstream American society.

since my first year in Lazard, it has definitely improved. it didn't use to have career advancement talk nor improvement of skills by giving employees trainings of what they want. overtime is crazy. work is very stressful. always understaffed

The firm is a corporate finance environment great location in midtown New York. The hardest part of the job is short in staff., and is great when we have down time
