lovisa selected this as a representative reviewI have been working at Lovisa 3+ years and each year i have had amazing opportunities to grow in my career. Work can be challenging at times (as any job is) but with that its also super rewarding! I think like any work you do you have to always put your best foot forward and go above and beyond to be successful. I enjoy going to work and i have a great team that supports me.
Pros
opportunity, learning/training, 50% off product, culture

Official response from lovisa
22 August 2022Hi, Thank you for sharing your love for Lovisa. We're so happy to hear about your growth over the years and your can-do attitude! Thank you and we look forward to the many more opportunities that you will have with us. Lovisa xx
Coworkers and Customers were lovely, Management not so much.
Team Member (Former Employee) - Port Macquarie NSW - 9 June 2023
I worked there for around 8 months, in that time we went through 4 different regional managers with no store manager until my last couple months there. The girls I worked with were amazing, even the store manager that got hired was amazing. The managing techniques used however, were purely fear based “If you don’t complete these 10 different jobs in your one 3 hour shift, we’ll need to have a discussion” and if you didn’t meet their expectations they would silently cut down your hours, how many hours you get a week are “performance based” and sometimes depending on if your regional likes you or not.
Pros
Great Team, Discounts
Cons
Horrible Management Skills

Love that I have learnt the importance of good communication through the lack of, and how to deal with not very nice people. I appreciate all the lovely people in store who I both trained and those who trained me - as training from managers wasn’t really given.
Pros
People you work with
Cons
People you work for

Don't work here
Part Time Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - All Sydney NSW - 30 May 2023
The dress code is insanely strict, almost the same as a catholic all-girls school. You’re not allowed to wear any sneaker shoes, boots with laces, no jeans or street cargo pants etc. You have to buy extra clothes to fit their dress code which is not it for the amount they pay. Management cares about their employees enough to be passable for the fair work laws. All they see is money & they keep pressuring us abt add-ons and premium package piercings. If you don't sell add-ons soon, the manager (depending on who) will go feral. Co-workers are honestly a hit or miss. Some are incredibly nice, while others personally crawled from the fiery pits below. The only thing that I enjoyed abt Lovisa was their 50% discount.

Not good enough
Team Member (Current Employee) - Parramatta NSW - 25 May 2023
I have been working for Lovisa for quite some time and I love it. However, it is very stressful as there is a lot of pressure from upper management. The pay is also not very good as you get paid according to your age .

High-paced but can be toxic
Part Time Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Chadstone VIC - 28 April 2023
Regional managers are unreliable and are poor at responding. Availability is not respected. Does not pay well. However, team members can be fun to work with at times

Worst place to work.
Casual Stylist (Former Employee) - Chatswood NSW - 25 April 2023
The only good thing about working here was the team members- and that's dependent on where you work. Management is horrible, and when you open/close you have to spend your own time on another day to get the keys for the store. Had to do ALL the cash management as a 15 year old, very stressful and too focused on hitting targets rather than mental health of the team. LOWER paying than maccas.

Easy but boring, Lowkey competitive, minimum wage but coworkers and managers can be good depending on the store and get good 50% off full priced items discount

productive and fun place to work with amazing team members
Team Member (Current Employee) - Perth WA - 7 April 2023
working at lovisa has been an overall positive experience for myself personally. the team members are all very welcoming and work well together. though there are many pros, there are cons aswell that you should make yourself aware of, i.e. working by yourself late nights and weekends in peak hours.
Pros
free dress (aslong as it follows certain dress code) retail experience
Cons
low pay, not enough hours a week

Just a bit of a mess really
Store Manager (Former Employee) - Hornsby NSW - 18 March 2023
Worked as both a casual at one store and a manager of another. Some parts were good—usually the other floor staff are young enthusiastic and fun to be around and have good team spirit. It's the company culture and pressure from upper management that's the problem. If you are very very lucky you might get a regional who actually seems to care but 9/10 times they are more focused on the bottom line, making sales and like others have said on here, you can never do well enough. Had one regional tell me I would need to work the next day if we couldn't find a cover when I had a literal fever that later turned out to be a bad case of influenza.

Productive and fun workplace
Christmas Casual Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Loganholme QLD - 9 February 2023
It was alright, the timesheet could be more better at making sure everyone had the exact same amount of shifts. I got told that their company couldn’t afford to have lots of people on shifts

Just don’t do it
Part time (Current Employee) - Western Australia - 8 February 2023
Just don’t do this job. Not worth it. Pays terrible. Upper management are rude and disgusting. KPI focused and even with targets being made your still in the wrong

Don’t work here, simple as that :)
Part Time Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Epping VIC - 3 February 2023
Made good friends but that’s it. Overworked and drained to the bone with all the expectations upper management has for you. They care more about the competitions than the welfare and health of the workers, you’re seen as useless if you can’t keep up with their demands. And no matter how well the store performs they still find a way to judge and criticise the performance of all the workers because there wasn’t enough piercings or Add ons sold despite being overworked to the bone. Would not recommend working here to anyone, even those desperate for work. The discount was good until you realise even the ‘good’ jewellery is bad quality. Upper management only care about the KPIs and not the workers. Then they make announcements about caring about the ‘welfare of all the employees’ when in reality it’s completely false given the treatment you get from Upper Management.

Horrible workplace
Lovisa stylist (Current Employee) - Victoria - 31 January 2023
The managers are condescending and rude, the pay is awful ($16 an hour part time as an 18yo who’s been there for almost a year), rostering is unorganised and unfair, company is only sales focused and only care about results. I would never recommend working here, I regret it and it was a waste of time.

All the rumours are true!
Stylist (Former Employee) - Queensland - 21 January 2023
As a stylist you’re expected to style, serve and pierce customers as well as do replenishment for just slightly over minimum wage. It’s a highly competitive working environment, especially when it comes to KPIs. The process of tracking KPIs is extremely unreliable too. Super micromanaged, especially by upper management. Getting the annual leave you’re entitled to is extremely difficult, you have to constantly chase it up if you want it to be approved, otherwise it’s ignored. Upper management constantly calls the store throughout the day to talk about goals and the store’s progress even though they can see the store’s results from their end. You have to send sign-off photos of basically everything you do in the store. Management randomly visits the store and acts like they’re there to help but instead, watch and listen to everyone and then give feedback on how we should all do basically everything better. It seems as though even if you do what is expected of you to a high standard, they’ll still find something to say to you as ‘feedback’. Overall, it’s too stressful and not worth the pay, wouldn’t recommend.
Pros
50% staff discount, 45 minute lunch breaks, weekly pay
Cons
Pay, management, too many responsibilities, piercings

Worst place ever
Part Time Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Bankstown NSW - 13 January 2023
Been in the company for about 2 years now, regional managers are the most rudest people ever. Co workers are the best just the management are inconsiderate of personal stuff and talk about staff members 100 would not recommend working here as it is mentally draining. You have to reach unrealistic budgets. You don’t get trained at all (I had to learn everything by myself) No fair treatment.

Horrible
Casual Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Highpoint Shopping Centre VIC - 12 January 2023
Most toxic work place, takes a massive toll on your mental health. Underpays. Regional managers will talk poorly about you behind your back. They are condescending and bullies. Rethink your decision on working for this horrible company.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Regional managers

Poor management
Store Manager (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 11 December 2022
Management has a strict business mentality, always thinking about making sales. If you were to call in sick and they’re not able to find a cover, you need to go in and work. They care the bare minimum about staffs health and soley about making sales + meeting KPIS. Its too repetitive aswell so it often gets boring. No matter how hard you try, there will always be an excuse made up as to why you didn’t do well enough. The care they have towards your mental health is 0 to none. Also, they are willing to hire AND promote people who have bullying history, aka regionals and state managers.
Pros
Team: The team are absolutely awesome, i had one of the best teams. Amazing people.
Cons
Poor management
