People are nice but watch your back
Manager (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 16 September 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedJust watch your back. Just because people are nice to your face doesn't mean they will be the same behind your back. Competition is intensive, with standards not set for individual stores.

Wasting time
Retail Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 3 August 2023
I was working at Lovisa for over a month. They hired us as part time but they give us only less than 10hrs for a week. That’s not enough hours. And also area manager always changes the shift schedule without saying anything. And sometimes they called me at 7am early morning to offer me to work on the day. Even you haven’t gotten enough training for opening and closing, they will put you in opening and closing shift suddenly. We need to handle the store by one person even if it’s on weekends. This is impossible to do piercing and do cashier at same time. I would never recommend to work here to anyone.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Not enough hours, too much things with low payment

A lot of pressure, but good if you like intense customer service
Sales Assistant/ Assistant Manager (Part Time (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 4 August 2022
This is a good place to working if you love retail, and talking to customers, however there was a lot of sales pressures and expectation. We were often understaffed so the expectation to get things done was insane. Although it was good retail experience. They also only hire you on a part-time contact so the pay is quite low there is no casual loading.
Pros
50% discount
Cons
High upselling pressure

Dodgy and corner cutting
Stylist and Salesperson (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 16 November 2020
Treat their part time employees like casuals in order to save money. You get paid the lower amount because you are part time, but do not receive 20 hours as most jobs would provide. This also then makes it impossible to earn much time for paid sick leave. They also require you to work extra time without pay (ie. arrive 15 minutes early- not to get ready but to commence working). Most of the staff were nice. Not flexible with work hours - poor communication. The actual job itself was fairly easy, it would be a good place to work if it were run professionally.
Pros
Discounted jewellery
Cons
Unprofessional workplace

I'd rather be unemployed than work here
SENIOR TEAM MEMBER (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 9 February 2020
although the actual people you work with a lovely, management is an absolute nightmare and make this company completely unenjoyable and unbearable to work for. Even though you're hired on a 'part time' contract, don't expect to get more than 1 shift a week (usually 3 hours). The only reason I give it 2/5 is because other workers are lovely and make the job somewhat bearable
Pros
the people you work with are lovely
Cons
literally everything else about this work place sucks

Don't work here
Part-Time Stylist (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 4 February 2019
This company is so fundamentally flawed. The dress code is crazy, you are expected to constantly be buying new product, which even with a 50% discount, takes a fair bit of your meagre salary.
You are given no recognition for things you do well, but if you do something wrong you are berated and made to feel like an absolutely idiot.
They expect you to consistently stay behind for over an hour to close the store properly, clean it and restock items, without pay. It's ridiculous.
Their whole corporate culture is just so backwards.
Pros
50% discount
Cons
Everything else

Store Manager (Current Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 20 May 2017
this company is great, you just have to know the right people. it isn't good if you get on the wrong side of a regional, they will make it their life to get you out.

Lovisa is amazing!
Customer service team member (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 7 April 2016
No uniform was required (awesome to stylize) there were reasonable restrictions such as; no skirt/shorts/dress shorter than your finger tips while hands are by your sides (to keep it professional). I learnt how to work alone in an environment and how to open and close by myself because the job requires you to work independently. The management was really good, the girls were close and all lovely. Co-workers were wonderful to work with and personalities never clashed. The hardest part was the leaving the job because I moved away. The most enjoyable part is going to the "Road show" in the city and meeting every Lovisa worker in the region, winning prizes and seeing the new collection of jewellery that would be coming into the store soon.
Pros
Co-workers are wonderful, Road Show, Add On's, Work environment
Cons
Short hours

Fun and friendly environment
casual stylist (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 28 December 2015
Lovisa was a fun and youthful work environment, all co-workers were friendly and helpful. The hardest park of the job was the late night stock takes during the school week, but my teammates always made those nights durable.
Management was very easy to work with, but often forgot that at the time i was working there i was a high school student and unable to work certain hours.
Pros
50% off full priced stock
Cons
didn't get many hours, had to buy and wear current stock
