Horrible place to work at
Manager (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 14 July 2023
Right so if you enjoy being overworked, under paid, expected to work on your days off then this is the job for you. No only do you only get paid set hours even if you are forced to work earlier or later but you are also given so many things to do and mind you even if you do achieve them it’s not enough. Don’t work here it’s the worst

Super unfair workplace
Sales Representative (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 16 November 2022
It was very overwhelming, having very high standards with the underwhelming pay rates and very strict work culture was super unhealthy. management felt like that group of girls in high school girls that bully everyone n try to intimidate everyone. management team also need to learn about diversity!
Pros
50% off jewellery
Cons
horrible pay, management never communicates back, expects more than they give.

Horrible management and pay
Team Member (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 26 October 2022
Loved my team but the higher-ups (regional managers etc.) were horrible and had very unrealistic expectations. Poor pay with minimal hours. Not worth it.
Pros
50% discount
Cons
Poor Pay, Minimal Hours/Shifts

Not worth the trouble
Senior Stylist (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 7 June 2022
Company hire external managers with no experience so you're expected to train your managers. No one on the team even get offered which makes it difficult to move up as a manager or move up in the company at all. You're mainly working by yourself, the regional managers add unnecessary stress and expect things to be done asap when you also serve customers (by yourself). Pay is not great either. You are considered 'Part time" when it is casual hours.

very poor workplace
Retail Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 1 April 2022
Managers are rude and not empathetic at all. The girls that work in store are lovely but there is a huge lack of communication, compassion and proper help. Once I started I received no training and was expected to know how everything goes. A group of us started at a similar time and all were forced into just being expected to know what do. Rosters are unreliable and never good. So so underpayed for the work being done. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to work here

Expect lots of work
Store Manager (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 31 March 2022
In my opinion the managers do the best they can. The store managers, regionals and states are all just doing what they’re told. The problems go as high up as the National Sales Manager and even the C.E.O. Lovisa expects a lot from team so much it can be detrimental to your mental health. My advice to Management would be to reasses key operations and adjust to the current climate (Covid , the great resignation, etc.) to better ensure team are taken care of and to keep staff for more than two weeks! The turnover rate is unbelievable and there is a reason for that.

Jobs at lovisa
in Melbourne VICThe worse communication, Uncompassionate management, little to no training.
Retail Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Melbourne City VIC - 20 March 2022
The people working there are lovely, however, the stress and lack of empathy from managers are shocking. The training that is provided to you is not comprehensive, and reliant on online, nonpractical modules - honestly had to pick up the rest myself. They expect you to know everything, and my manager was particularly passive-aggressive despite the BARE MINIMUM amount of training they provided. Communication is a NIGHTMARE. Between regionals and store managers, everything is muddled up and there is no respect whatsoever. I have never felt so utterly disrespected in my life. Not worth sacrificing your mental health and wellbeing for this job at all, the pay isn't even sufficient for what the job throws at you. Please don't put yourself through this unless desperate- there are plenty of other fine, welcoming retailers out there to work with. Another thing that I and a lot of the girls disliked was the heavy reliance on Add Ons as a measure of performance - being expected and basically forced to pressure customers to purchase items they clearly don't want - it's uncomfortable for both the employees and the customers. Totally understand that KPI targets need to be met, but it's honestly insane the pressure and expectation.
Pros
Employee Discount 50%
Cons
Irregular rostering even as a part time, ignorance of availability, rude managers, inconsiderate and unforgiving management and communication.

Management
Assistant Manager (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 16 June 2021
I began as a Christmas Casual and was offered a Part-time role which was fine until I was being rostered on for nearly 30-40 hours per week. That would have been fine if I was being paid overtime but I wasn't. On one occasion when I worked late into the night, they paid me by morning rates. This is demonstrative of how Lovisa wants to pay you as little as possible but they still want you to do the maximum amount of work. When rostered to close, you are expected to leave the store looking perfect in less than fifteen minutes. Let me tell you what people are expected to do in those fifteen minutes: count the tills and do cash-up, complete figures, MOC up the entire store (MOC is another word for making sure everything looks clean and shoppable), sweep and mop the floor, clean cupboards and piercing instruments and then take a video showcasing all the jewellery every single night. All that in less than fifteen minutes. Let me tell you: if you think this is achievable, it isn't. Most stylists end up staying a long time even after close. This is inclusive of piercing stores as well. Working at a piercing store can be a bit hellish. You are expected to still pierce last-minute customers, yes even the ones who turn up a minute before close and it takes time to complete a consent form and process their payment. You are not given any extra time to close the store. What most stylists end up eventually doing is punching out of work at the time they were told to finish and keep working. Another thing about being at a piercing store is that there are never enough people rostered on. -
Pros
50% Discount
Cons
Toxic Workplace, Dismal Pay, Long Hours

wouldn't recommend
Stylist (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 25 March 2021
The other stylists are amazing to work with and always helpful! It's fun to dress up and work with jewellery. Discount is good too. However, management is super pushy with add-ons for no reason, they force you to tell every customer about every sale in store even though customers find it annoying. They only pay you for 15min to close the store even though it always takes over half an hour. They don't pay you 15min to open the store either. They push you to do piercings even though it's not in job description and tbh the company only cares about head office staff. They don't care much about their retail assistants and will do everything to pay you as little as possible but get you to do the most work. You'll have to do manager tasks but not get paid for it.
Pros
Amazing people to work with and make friends
Cons
Management will exploit you and make you do way more than your job description

Christmas Casual Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 16 February 2020
The management at lovisa is poor and unorganised. found it pretty unfair to have to break my back side ways for a company that i cared so much about but was then let off after i was promised a contract.

Okay for a temporary job
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 17 January 2019
Management was really harsh and not friendly, gave barely any shifts which was very disappointing as I wasn't able to learn much or get much experience in retail. Everyone there also hates higher up, and the rewards and salary are horrible
