It was alright, the timesheet could be more better at making sure everyone had the exact same amount of shifts.I got told that their company couldn’t afford to have lots of people on shifts

Management was worse than I thought

- Extremely busy in a tiny store (with people constantly bringing in trolleys & prams)- Constant bad-mouthing of regionals- I never experienced any actual training but other Christmas Team Members did- Only an 8 week contract- Barely above minimum wage for each age group- Add Ons were used to assess customer engagement. Sometimes other team members would say they got the AO's when someone else did or they tallied extra under their own name- Method of tracking AO's for individuals must be improved

Pros

Team members were lovely Manager was the sweetest

Cons

Favouritism Too competitive Dishonesty Bad-mouthing of upper management

management

The management at lovisa is poor and unorganised. found it pretty unfair to have to break my back side ways for a company that i cared so much about but was then let off after i was promised a contract.

The dodgiest place out.

16-year-old employees are expected to fulfil all duties that are completed by employees aged 21 and over. I was hired as a 'Christmas Casual' but when I checked the contract I was positioned as a 'Part-time Fixed-term' employee. To my understanding, a Christmas Casual is a CASUAL employee but I had already figured that they were trying to get the cheapest labour possible, knowing that part-time rates are much lower than casual rates. This is something that Lovisa should be ashamed about - for the amount of pressure they put on young girls. For a five hour shift, employees are only entitled to a TEN MINUTE BREAK (add teleporting as a role in the job description). Every time I was paid, my hourly rate became lower. All these promises about "hour and a half" on a Sunday make things seem pretty but are not real. On the group chat for my store, the manager and employees can be seen talking negatively about the regional manager - an indication of extremely poor management. In fact, everyone seemed to be blaming each other. When the regional manager complained, the store manager blamed employees and the employees would blame each other. I got caught up in this because I was new and vulnerable. I got set up by another employee claiming that I refused to complete a task because it "wasn't my responsibility". I don't know what CCTV footage the regional manager was shown but things did not add up. I completed that specific task entirely as I was instructed and never through my whole time working at Lovisa refused to follow instructions. This blame game can't go on forever. I'm sure -

Fast paced environment

I was hired as a Christmas Casual but then put on a Part Time contract so they could pay me less. I would get 1-5 shifts a week (more shifts during the busy period) and they would be 3-8 hours long. Store management and team were supportive and friendly, but Head Office weren't encouraging, supportive, or professional. Other team members also had troubles with management. Daily tasks were simple and generally easy to complete. I was thrown in the deep end and had to ask for help a fair bit because some things weren't explained well.

Not worth it

I worked over Christmas for Lovisa and the work it’s self was fun and most of the girls where really nice and supporting. But they didn’t listen to my availability and had me doing every shift I said I couldn’t do. The regional managers are very pushy and blame you for no sales even if there has only been 2 people in the store while you where on. I was also put on opening and closing shifts without actually been shown properly how to do them. You are expected to show EVERY customer the add ons even if you can tell they couldn’t care less. Also most of the time they only give you 3 hours a week.

Awesome workplace

I miss working here very much, I enjoyed my time very much. The girls there were like family and still talk to a few of the girls I worked with and would love to have another opportunity like this.

Productive and Fun workplace

a typical day at work was slow or fast depending on the amount of costumers that visited the shop.It was mainly bust because it was the christmas and new year holidays coming up. i learned how to communicate with costumers and other staff memebers, put out and collect stock, clean the store, and manage cash. My co-workers were fun and bubbly, having a smile everytime i walked in for a shift. They stayed on top of everything in the store and were very organised while doing it. The hardest part of the job was actually finding a way to get to work on time because school and home were quite a distance away from the store itself. The most enjoyable part was talking to the costumers and helping them choose out the jewelry that they wanted or were looking for.

Review about Lovisa

A typical day at work wouldn't be so pleasant as such for me, I would always be told that I am not doing the right thing even though I am doing what is required of me for this Christmas casual position at my work. Didn't really learn much, management is a little unprofessional in a way, the hardest part of my job is being able to get in contact with someone when needed. The most enjoyable part of my job is the customers.

Pros

Customers

Cons

No breaks, not enough hours

Great Atmosphere with fun team members

The best part about working at this particular retail establishment was the Lovisa team and how it was easy to talk to and get along with everyone. I was the youngest there so it was a bit harder for me to start to get to know everyone but as my confidence grew within the job, so did my ability to converse and get to know people. My main duties were to help customers, unpack stock and use the cash register. I learnt that setting goal definitely aids in sales as our daily goal encouraged greater sales abilities in each team member. The hardest part of the job was having to leave because I wanted to focus on my year 12 studies. I had to leave behind friendships and a great work environment.
