Work can be challenging at times (as any job is) but with that its also super rewarding! I think like any work you do you have to always put your best foot forward and go above and beyond to be successful. I enjoy going to work and i have a great team that supports me.

stressful and awful management
Sales Assistant (Current Employee) - Queensland - 29 July 2022
while the job itself can be fun and the team members are nice, everything else is awful. they barely train you before throwing you in the deep end - i had to close/open for my FIRST FEW SHIFTS and it was so stressful and time consuming. you only get 15 minutes to close and have so many things to do and its always only ONE person closing which takes forever. and you dont get paid for overtime either. most of the regional and national managers are absolutely HORRID, they blame you for not getting enough piercings in a day and tell you to FORCE people to get piercings. they also threaten to cut your hours if you don't learn how to pierce ears and noses no matter how uncomfortable the employees are with doing them. on top of that, they give you an insane last minute number of shifts and change your shift times without even telling you sometimes. you can barely have days off EVEN IF YOURE LITERALLY SICK AND DYING. in addition, they also make you work shifts at other stores and get angry when you refuse to do them. the management is the main problem at lovisa, if they would learn some basic ethics then the workplace would improve greatly.
Pros
50% Employee Discount, kind coworkers
Cons
Mistreatment, awful upper management, disregard for employee health and wellbeing

Areas for improvement
- Overall satisfaction
- Fair pay for job
- General feeling of work happiness
Unprofessional management & underpaid.
Retail Assistant (Former Employee) - Victoria - 16 July 2022
My time working in Lovisa was pretty average at most when I first started I was getting around 15-20 hours even sometimes 25 hrs a week which is pretty good for a part timer but not so long after I was given shifts ranging from literally 3 hours to maybe 5 (once or twice a week) pretty poor effort as a store and from the manager. Most times I'd have to stay back extra 30 mins to "moc" / clean up the store (and got no extra pay for my time) the managers are unprofessional and not much feedback was given on my performance. Until the higher up would complain. Strict dress code (apparently no logo showing) ridiculous expectations for a job that a 12 year old is capable of. (Lunch Breaks extremely short) There are many many better retail places to work at , avoid.
Pros
50% off team discount
Cons
Underpaid & unprofessional

terrible
Stylist (Current Employee) - Rhodes NSW - 14 July 2022
PLS SAVE YOURSELF! do not work here, the regional management is terrible, there is so much pressure for literally teenagers still in high school and all they care about is how many add-ons and piercings you do. I work at lovisa and got yelled at by my regional because I couldn't convince anyone to get a nose piercing, causing me to start crying in front of a store full of customers. The only good thing is the discount and that the rest of the team members a really nice, but that is it!
Pros
good discount and nice team members
Cons
terrible management and no respect at all

not worth the time and energy
Retail Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Traralgon VIC - 22 June 2022
the job itself is super fun i really loved it. but the lack of communication, being disregarded when you tell management the shifts you absolutely cannot work then getting rostered on and made to work them anyway, the super low pay rates and the stress put on workers just wasn’t worth the time and energy in the end. i loved the people i worked with and what i got to do in the job, but only getting 3-5 hours a week as an adult won’t even pay for your petrol to get you to and from work. i was constantly having to step up and take lead in times where it was not my job to do so which put an endless amount of stress and pressure on me. i was doing more than what i was getting paid for. i made management well aware of the hours i COULD work as i told them countless times, and yet they would constantly disregard it and put me on the times they knew for a fact i could not work. not to mention i had been working there for 11 months, did SO much for them that i shouldn’t have ever even had to do like train people when that’s not my job, cover shifts for everyone constantly, work at 7 in the morning even after i told them i can’t work those shifts, before the store even opens just to get things done and basically had to step up as an assistant manager at times without having that role nor being paid for it, and yet when i resigned it was the poorest and most salty goodbye i’ve ever gotten. the hours were not evenly distributed what so ever between team members. some of us would have one 3 hour shift one week and then 20 hours the next. i ended up having to contact regional about getting -

Stressful

It’s definitely not worth all the trouble you have to go through working here. Not to mention the under paying off staff. I’ve made some friends but the overall experience that i’ve been through definitely not worth it

Not worth the trouble
Senior Stylist (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 7 June 2022
Company hire external managers with no experience so you're expected to train your managers. No one on the team even get offered which makes it difficult to move up as a manager or move up in the company at all. You're mainly working by yourself, the regional managers add unnecessary stress and expect things to be done asap when you also serve customers (by yourself). Pay is not great either. You are considered 'Part time" when it is casual hours.

underpaid , unrealistic expectations
Casual Stylist (Former Employee) - Bondi Junction NSW - 5 June 2022
very very very underpaid for the amount of effort and work they expect you to do. The managers set so many unrealistic goals for everyone one to meet. The days can be fun if your working with your friends but literally other than that i cant think of anything else good to say.
Pros
50% discount
Cons
underpaid

Wouldn’t recommend working here
Team Member (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 3 June 2022
So underpaid for the amount of work they expect you to do. $15 an hour for an 18 year old. Roster you on shifts without warning, ignore your availability and time off. The higher up management expect so much from you including to harass customers about sales and add ons. Higher up’s are extremely rude and only care about the money. Dress code is super strict and stupid. They expect so much work to be done by you without any benefit, absolutely wouldn’t recommend working here.

There’s pros and cons
Manager (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 24 May 2022
I got along well with most of the girls I worked with as a team member but you get a lot of pressure from higher up. There’s a ridiculous amount of tasks they ask you to do in such a short amount of time. The dress code is stupid and for the pay it’s only decent if you work full time. Good job for learning and starting off though.

Not a good place to work
Seasonal Worker (Former Employee) - Fountain Gate VIC - 10 May 2022
At first, working at Lovisa seems nice, but they intentionally leave out information until you have signed the contract. I was a Christmas casual, but after looking at my employment status I was listed as a 'part time fixed contract' employee - they do this so they can pay you less and you get none of the benefits (like sick leave, as it accumulates over time), even though they advertise the job as 'casual'. My shifts were only 3 - 5 hours, and I would usually only get 1 or 2 shifts a week. The first two weeks I got none. In addition to this, in order to fit into the dress code, all jewellery you wear as part of the uniform must be purchased AFTER your contract starts. None of the other Christmas "Casuals" were informed of this, and it came as an unpleasant surprise. When starting the job, I was a bit clueless as to when and how I would get my first shift and put in my availability etc. The transitional period was not very enjoyable and unhelpful - the days I put as unavailable were also ignored for most of the contract. It's also a very small store, with nowhere to sit and only a ten-minute break for a 5 hour shift, so you can't even buy food and eat. You have to put in a lot of time, effort and money, and for an eight week contract, it's not worth it. The only reason it would be worth it would be to get a permanent position, which only a few people get if there are positions available and if they perform well.

Wouldn’t recommend
Manager (Former Employee) - Tweed Heads NSW - 29 April 2022
Management are money hungry who only care about how many add ons you can sell. They don’t give a $&# about you and everyone is replaceable. Short three hour shifts with little to no notice sometimes. Over time was never paid or was I ever asked if I could work overtime it was just demanded.

Stressful, annoying, waste of time and I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone that’s starting off in retail
Team Member (Former Employee) - Werribee VIC - 10 April 2022
All regionals only last for 2 months no longer talking bad about everyone then quit because it was too much pressure from The higher-ups aka the CEOss
Pros

Unmanaged and expected to do manager job and get paid $15. Do not recommend and you couldn’t wear sneaker, had to open by myself and sometimes close and having to send photos of whole store before you can leave

very poor workplace
Retail Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 1 April 2022
Managers are rude and not empathetic at all. The girls that work in store are lovely but there is a huge lack of communication, compassion and proper help. Once I started I received no training and was expected to know how everything goes. A group of us started at a similar time and all were forced into just being expected to know what do. Rosters are unreliable and never good. So so underpayed for the work being done. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to work here

Expect lots of work
Store Manager (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 31 March 2022
In my opinion the managers do the best they can. The store managers, regionals and states are all just doing what they’re told. The problems go as high up as the National Sales Manager and even the C.E.O. Lovisa expects a lot from team so much it can be detrimental to your mental health. My advice to Management would be to reasses key operations and adjust to the current climate (Covid , the great resignation, etc.) to better ensure team are taken care of and to keep staff for more than two weeks! The turnover rate is unbelievable and there is a reason for that.

The worse communication, Uncompassionate management, little to no training.
Retail Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Melbourne City VIC - 20 March 2022
The people working there are lovely, however, the stress and lack of empathy from managers are shocking. The training that is provided to you is not comprehensive, and reliant on online, nonpractical modules - honestly had to pick up the rest myself. They expect you to know everything, and my manager was particularly passive-aggressive despite the BARE MINIMUM amount of training they provided. Communication is a NIGHTMARE. Between regionals and store managers, everything is muddled up and there is no respect whatsoever. I have never felt so utterly disrespected in my life. Not worth sacrificing your mental health and wellbeing for this job at all, the pay isn't even sufficient for what the job throws at you. Please don't put yourself through this unless desperate- there are plenty of other fine, welcoming retailers out there to work with. Another thing that I and a lot of the girls disliked was the heavy reliance on Add Ons as a measure of performance - being expected and basically forced to pressure customers to purchase items they clearly don't want - it's uncomfortable for both the employees and the customers. Totally understand that KPI targets need to be met, but it's honestly insane the pressure and expectation.
Pros
Employee Discount 50%
Cons
Irregular rostering even as a part time, ignorance of availability, rude managers, inconsiderate and unforgiving management and communication.

Stressful and a fast working environment. Poor salary.
Stylist (Former Employee) - Queensland - 20 March 2022
Management was extremely harsh with KPIs and Add Ons, and don't forget about piercings. You do a lot of work, and pay is extremely low for the effort you put in. (eg. if your 18yo you will get $15/hr). They hire you as a part time contract, but treat you like a casual. And minimum hours a week when working there is 3hrs. So on one week you literally can get a 3 hour shift, and in that 3 hour shift, that is your only income for the week. Moreover, the regional manager will base you off favourites, and give less shifts if they don't like you.
Pros
50% discount
Cons
Low salary and harsh management.
