Work can be challenging at times (as any job is) but with that its also super rewarding! I think like any work you do you have to always put your best foot forward and go above and beyond to be successful. I enjoy going to work and i have a great team that supports me.

Worst place you'll ever work
Part Time Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Chadstone VIC - 8 February 2022
I don't recommend working at this HXLL HOLE to anyone. Although all the girls you work with are lovely your managers have no remorse. They have left me in tears during a shift and not only did this happen to me I witnessed it happen to other people as well. They have unrealistic targets to achieve each day and selling the "add ons" are an expectation and you will get yelled at if you don't sell enough. Just please never work for this company you will have deep regrets like me.

Areas for improvement
- Overall satisfaction
- Fair pay for job
- General feeling of work happiness
Management was worse than I thought
Christmas Team Member (Former Employee) - Chermside - 25 January 2022
- Extremely busy in a tiny store (with people constantly bringing in trolleys & prams) - Constant bad-mouthing of regionals - I never experienced any actual training but other Christmas Team Members did - Only an 8 week contract - Barely above minimum wage for each age group - Add Ons were used to assess customer engagement. Sometimes other team members would say they got the AO's when someone else did or they tallied extra under their own name - Method of tracking AO's for individuals must be improved
Pros
Team members were lovely Manager was the sweetest
Cons
Favouritism Too competitive Dishonesty Bad-mouthing of upper management

Nightmare Job
Retail Salesperson (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 28 December 2021
Please don't do it. Save yourself from this sinking ship. I pushed through for 3 years and I can say it is the worst place I've ever worked at. I've watched regional managers make girls cry in store, with no compassion. You're going to be treated like an animal and made to feel like you hold no value whatsoever.
Pros
Nothing is worth this pain.
Cons
Unrealistic kpi's Micro managing Terrible communication

poor management
Part Time Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Victoria - 16 December 2021
I would not recommend this job to anybody looking for a retail position. The girls I work with are lovely however the higher up management treat you as if Lovisa is the only thing you have going in your life. They've made me come in when I've been extremely sick because they couldn't find a cover, they have made me work 10.5 hour shifts and not give me a break until over 5 hours in, and they change the rosters constantly up to the night before the start of that week. They have little regard for health issues (physical and mental) and push us to overwork - particularly when doing a closing shift where every person I have talked to has to work overtime without pay. Complaints have been made by multiple staff that I know of, however no changes have been made. They also get really intense about uniforms and presentation, sometimes making us send selfies at the start of our shifts to a group chat to show we look good enough,
Pros
Discount
Cons
Management, Rosters, Pay

Fast Paced and Stressful
Part Time Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 24 November 2021
Lovisa doesn't provide new employees with a lot of training opportunities and expects them to know how to work independently almost immediately after starting. The store team members I've worked with are always the nicest people to work with, however pressure from upper management to meet KPIs makes this job very stressful.

Competitive and fast-paced, 50% off discount
Stylist (Former Employee) - Broadbeach QLD - 31 October 2021
The store discount was great, met lots of nice people that I worked with regularly. However, very demanding job especially if at school/studying. Lots of expectations, even if very young. Store managers always great. Culture is super competitive, and lots of pressure to reach sales targets/KPI's.
Pros
Store discount, Team members
Cons
Competitive culture and management

I wouldn't reccomend working here
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Perth City WA - 17 September 2021
I was working here for a month and i absolutely hated it, the management is poor. The pay is terrible and they give you little to no hours. The manager was rude, I had gotten an offer at the perth city store and i was so excited. I started off with three shifts, then it was cut down to one per week where i only would get 3- 4 hours a week. There was no training other then all these modules you would have to do in your own time, I told the manager i wanted more hours and she said it wouldnt change because everyone had set hours, the anxiety and the pressure they put you through, I wouldn't recommend working here at all.
Pros
Discount is the only pro
Cons
Bad Pay, No hours, Terrible Management, Stressful, Bad Training

Don’t do it.
Stylist (Former Employee) - Loganholme QLD - 5 September 2021
Just don’t. wait it out. find a better job. thank me later. Nice manager, that’s it. I did 7 hours unpaid overtime in one week, which took my $13 an hour to $8 an hour. Terrible hours, annoying policies, horrible pay, and constant contradictions.
Pros
none
Cons

Management
Assistant Manager (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 16 June 2021
I began as a Christmas Casual and was offered a Part-time role which was fine until I was being rostered on for nearly 30-40 hours per week. That would have been fine if I was being paid overtime but I wasn't. On one occasion when I worked late into the night, they paid me by morning rates. This is demonstrative of how Lovisa wants to pay you as little as possible but they still want you to do the maximum amount of work. When rostered to close, you are expected to leave the store looking perfect in less than fifteen minutes. Let me tell you what people are expected to do in those fifteen minutes: count the tills and do cash-up, complete figures, MOC up the entire store (MOC is another word for making sure everything looks clean and shoppable), sweep and mop the floor, clean cupboards and piercing instruments and then take a video showcasing all the jewellery every single night. All that in less than fifteen minutes. Let me tell you: if you think this is achievable, it isn't. Most stylists end up staying a long time even after close. This is inclusive of piercing stores as well. Working at a piercing store can be a bit hellish. You are expected to still pierce last-minute customers, yes even the ones who turn up a minute before close and it takes time to complete a consent form and process their payment. You are not given any extra time to close the store. What most stylists end up eventually doing is punching out of work at the time they were told to finish and keep working. Another thing about being at a piercing store is that there are never enough people rostered on. -
Pros
50% Discount
Cons
Toxic Workplace, Dismal Pay, Long Hours

Terrible place to work
Stylist (Former Employee) - Queensland - 27 May 2021
Regional managers are horrible, cried twice because of them, so much pressure out on you to basically pressure customers into buying cheap and easily broken jewellery and to getting piercings.
Pros
Sick leave and annual leave. 50% discount
Cons
Pressure to sell add ons, being alone for a lot of the shift, regional managers, pressure to pressure customers into getting piercings

Management sucks or just lacking.
Stylist (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 26 May 2021
I still work here, but I'm considering quitting. About to hit my 3 year anniversary at Lovisa as a Part Time Stylist. I've stayed at this job because once you learn everything, it's pretty much just going in circles every shift. The most annoying part about this job is the lack of stability and how there's just way too many layers of management. I worked in a store that at one point just didn't have any store managers at all, yet there were so many higher levels of management telling us off for not completing weekly manager tasks. During this time, our store was so disorganised but higher level regional managers didn't really step up to help us out. I also remember a girl being told off last year during winter for wearing a windbreaker, as it wasn't an approved part of clothing, but it's literally freezing cold so idk if they want us to be sick or something instead. So for me, the fact I have to think about every move and potentially having management calling you outside work hours or work days just to lecture you is really annoying and stressful. As for the pay, when I started in my teens, it was real low. As you leave your teens, the rate is better - I'm not sure if I can disclose the rate when your age is 20+ but it's a much less discrepancy to industry averages. Further, you can also potentially be promoted to assistant manager or store manager, but compared to a 20 year old's pay, the rate increase is not worth the additional pressure and stress (the manager rates are flat - regardless of age), so if you're really good and in your teens (somehow available to do full time -
Pros
50% Off Staff Discount. Low pay rate for teens.
Cons
Told off for everything (regardless how small) by management.

Don't work here!
Retail Assistant (Former Employee) - Queensland - 13 May 2021
110% recommend not working here! I worked at Lovisa for a week and then put in my notice to leave. My first day I did an open shift (7am start) and was asked to arrive 15 minutes early (without pay but I didn't mind) but when I got there, exactly 15 mins early, there was no one there until 7. The team culture isn't very good and I definitely did not feel supported throughout the training process. The training is inadequate and you're required to do ALOT of modules for training at home which are time consuming. It is a lot to take in, especially if it's your first job, and the expectations and responsibilities are far beyond the pay rate. Be prepared to be asked last minute to cover shifts and also have your shifts constantly changed. For example, one day I was asked to do a 3 hour shift which I agreed to, but then my manager cut my shift down to a 2 hour shift. For the rest of the week, I had 2 hour shifts. For the next 2 weeks in the pre-planned rosters, I was given one 3 hour shift per week, which isn't ideal considering I have a 2 year old to support and am studying. I am happy I left right after the first week of working. I'm telling you right now, whoever is reading this or considering working at Lovisa, this is your sign not to. Don't do it, girl!
Cons
- Little to no hours - Low Pay rate

Toxic environment for young women
Assistant Manager (Former Employee) - Queensland - 26 April 2021
The workplace is extremely competitive. Team members are competing each day to sell the most add ons and having to pressure customers to buy them. If you don't sell enough you will be called out in front of the other staff. Women are made to dress like they are going out to dinner every day whilst also having to crawl on the ground and climb up and down ladders if your outfit isn't up to standards you will be sent home this includes the wrong footwear. You have to wear at least 5 pieces of jewelry and they tell you how to apply your make up. We weren't allowed to take our 15 minute breaks only our half hour lunch breaks 15 minute breaks were a "waste of time". Managers are not trained to manage staff and don't show respect to their staff they would talk down to them and sometimes leave them in tears. You have to film your store before and after your shift to show the store looking immaculate every single piece of jewelry must be pulled forward. You will be called several times a day to tell you what to do, where your going wrong and to push you to sell more and work harder.
Pros
Half priced jewelry, Getting to style and work with great customers.
Cons
Bad management, staff not turning up to shifts, underpaid and over worked, stressful high pressure and toxic environment.

unprofessional and poor management
Part Time Team Member (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 22 April 2021
lovisa has been the worst company to work for and is so poorly managed. staff are extremely undertrained but will still get introuble for doing the wrong thing. higher management talks to team members in such a demeaning manner and crosses the line in many ways. get last minute shift changes half way through every week and are expected to work them. was basically interrogated after calling in sick, being asked extremely personal questions like what medication i was on and where and why i wasnt at home.
Pros
staff discount
Cons
management

Run away.....and never look back
Part Time Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Queensland - 31 March 2021
I have never left a job as quickly as this one in my life.... I was lucky enough to get it super easily because the manager knew me from my previous job. I left after about 3 weeks of working there because it was NOT worth it. The amount of pressure the regional and state managers put on you to sell unrealistic amounts of AO's + do everything perfectly with inadequate training is insane. Expect calls throughout the day checking up on your sales statistics following up with them telling you all the things your doing wrong and what your not doing enough of. 'Part time' position but casual hours and low pay. You have to take videos and pictures daily of your store and send them to management with the expectation that everything is perfect even though the time your given to do them is so obviously not enough! So get ready to stay behind 30mins - 1 hour on average without pay to make sure you do everything perfectly because of the stress they put on you! ;) Super happy to say that they made my anxiety incredibly bad!!! It got to a point that they put so much stress on me that I ended up buying products (AO's) with my own money just to bring sales up so I wouldn't get in trouble from higher ups. Awesome!!! If you want to heighten your anxiety (...or develop it), feel incredible amounts of stress, over work and loose sleep whilst being underpaid then this is your place!!! :D
Pros
Literally nothing is worth working here. :D
Cons
Literally everything~!! woo~!

wouldn't recommend
Stylist (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 25 March 2021
The other stylists are amazing to work with and always helpful! It's fun to dress up and work with jewellery. Discount is good too. However, management is super pushy with add-ons for no reason, they force you to tell every customer about every sale in store even though customers find it annoying. They only pay you for 15min to close the store even though it always takes over half an hour. They don't pay you 15min to open the store either. They push you to do piercings even though it's not in job description and tbh the company only cares about head office staff. They don't care much about their retail assistants and will do everything to pay you as little as possible but get you to do the most work. You'll have to do manager tasks but not get paid for it.
Pros
Amazing people to work with and make friends
Cons
Management will exploit you and make you do way more than your job description

Highly competitive and stressful
Retail Team Member (Former Employee) - Coffs Harbour NSW - 26 February 2021
While I would not recommend working at Lovisa, I do believe that the job did teach me to go far beyond my comfort zones. However the higher management (regional and state managers) that you have to work with have unrealistic and unreasonable expectations of they’re employers, creating a toxic and stressful environment.
Pros
Good experience for dealing with frustrating situations
Cons
Not enough staff, constant change in authority, unrealistic expectations, stressful
