Felt like a robot

Felt like another cog in a wheel, sometimes forced to work overtime if on the phone - can be as long as up to 1hr if client is not satisfied, felt more like handling complaints than consulting

Conservative practices and excessive manual tasks

For a person who works with technology Macquarie Bank is very outdated, conservative and resistant to changes. In a world where competition is only increasing, efficiency should be number one in priorities for projects and initiatives, but that’s not the case. Also management is very controlling and micromanaging make it impossible to obtain any joy out of your work.

Great Long Term Place to Work

Senior management are focused on long term and care about employees. However ideally you should work in roles closer to revenue generation. Company may have overhired in the last 2-3 years so be careful where you join. However looks like shortage of talent and long list of work required so overall good place to work.

Challenging

High volume inbound calls with long hours of work - very strict with working hours, require you to clear all calls in the queue before logging off which was a bit difficult during busy periods. Team was supportive and friendly however and team leader was also understanding and helpful.

Call centre environment
Home Loan Specialist (Current Employee) - South Australia - 27 July 2022
expected to work long hours and often overtime which isnt compensated for in the mortgages team. I worked as a home loan consultant and we were expected to do 'buffer hours' some weeks of upto 3 extra hours in a week which were unpaid as management would say that it is included in contract (but never told until after onboarding). Team leaders are nice

Productive, time sheets on categories of time spent

Incentives with bonuses, competitive environment, use of agile methodologies with scrum meetings. Professional Banking environment. Occasional overtime work, with food and transport home (Taxi) provided for.

Self serving directors, toxic culture

Directors push their staff to get their oversized bonus. Disproportionately high pay for directors and very low for non-directors. Toxic culture of undermining as behaviour is driven by annual bonuses. Good staff events and perks but they get their pound of flesh. No respect for anyone and long hours. Good clients but they don’t know what goes on behind the scenes.

Ok, however long hours required

Great place to work and a huge focus on staff, however, communication was always very formal and little done to support staff unless large measures taken by staff members to exceed KPI's. Performance reviews played down but taken very seriously when performed which was confusing.
