None good
HET (Current Employee) - Fort McMurray, AB - 27 November 2023
I worked for Mader in Australia and speak extremely highly of them. What has made Mader Australia so awesome is most of the coordinators and management are off the tools and know how to do their job. They know what's happening on the floor. Just google search "Seek jobs Mader" and most employees have given great reviews from the Australian side of life. Definitely felt taken care of back there and not just a number. Extremely good at retaining their employees. Having employees that love the company and the work is worth their weight in gold. Came to Canada to work for what I thought was a similar company and all the management (including upper management) has no idea. Can't communicate nothing between themselves and will continually say anything on the phone to suck you in and lead you on whilst you work there. Management that could definitely do with a overhaul. Love the Canadian lifestyle, but working in Australia is definitely better. If you are the type of employee that just wants a paycheck and do the bare minimum, Mader Canada is definitely it. Want to be a decent worker with job satisfaction, too bad you'll be dragged down to their level. Mader Canada has a huge turn over in employees since I've been here. You will be stuffed around with pay, flights, camp, tools and vehicles. Make sure you get a lawyer to read your employment contract before signing. Mader Canada's business model is constantly turning employees over.

Cons

Avoid this mob.
HET (Current Employee) - Fort McMurray, AB - 25 October 2023
Once you're on site, that's it, you're on your own. Management disappears. The work is fine. It's the usual heavy equipment maintenance that we're all used to. Lack of management and the clear nepotism is the issue. Zero response from your designated "site coordinator" for any issues once you're at work. Tooling is a joke also. If you have an incident involving alcohol or weed at work, you'll be promoted or moved sites. If you question maintenance practises or lack of safety, you will promptly be pulled aside and reminded to fall into line. Decent pay, some work events also are good.
Pros
Pay is OK.
Cons
Management.

absolutely poor management
HET (Former Employee) - Fort McMurray, AB - 7 September 2023
You will go to work with a truck, having no tools, equipment and supplies you need to perform your task, no supervisor or anyone responsible to refer to at site. If you refer them the issue(head office) ,if your lucky they get back to you, it's your problem, nothing will be done to resolve the issue. You will be out there by yourself and need to respond to unrealistic expectation from the client, with no understanding of the trade. The company is not multicultural.
Pros
They pay fair
Cons
No work ethics

Heavy Duty Mechanic (Former Employee) - Fort McMurray, AB - 26 August 2023
Different place to work. Majority nice people. Seemed risky to me for long term. Very eccentric thought process within management and red flag for me
Pros
free flights but only 1 location
Cons
Eccentric and little unity

Not my favorite but not the worst
Operations Administrator (Former Employee) - Fort Collins, CO - 10 August 2023
Very polarizing with politics. If you do not like talking about them or constantly having it said to you, don’t work here. If you don’t care, then it does pay well. Wasn’t the right fit for me.
Pros
Good compensation
Cons
Polarizing

Journeyman Mechanic (Current Employee) - Elko, NV - 4 August 2023
- Have only been here 6 months and can see that I want to work here long term - Just got to attend a team event that they held for us, can't wait for the next one - The rotation was scary at first but now my family and I are used to it - Management are not there onsite with you but if you communicate what you need they will make it happen
Pros
Lots of work. pay. benefits
Cons
Takes a bit to get used to working away like this

Terrible management
Heavy equipment field mechanic traveling (Former Employee) - Littleton, CO - 2 August 2023
About all I can say is stay away. Very few people make it an entire year. Management is arrogant and condescending. They will lie to you. They don't take care of the work equipment assigned to you.
Pros
Lots of overtime, flights home
Cons
Lying and disrespectful

Field Technician (Current Employee) - California - 3 July 2023
Your just a number to Mader. You have to watch your paycheck like a hawk or else you will get screwed. Zero human resource department and the work schedule is grueling.

Official response from Mader Group
4 July 2023Mader Group provides highly skilled trades to our industry partners. All our staff are full time employees, not contractors. We offer a comprehensive employer paid group benefits plan to all Canadian employees after 90 days of service. Our growth in the Canadian market has been significant and we are diligently working to ensure tooling is best in class. We encourage our field staff to reach out to the operations team with questions or concerns, so we can continue delivering the best possible experience to our employees.
Great team of managers.
Mining coordinator/ specialist. (Former Employee) - Mauritania West Africa - 1 June 2023
Great opportunity to work in West Africa, Mauritania, unfortunately their was no Mining continuation for an open cut Mining Specialist, it was a one off opportunity only.
Pros
Good pay
Cons
Long rosters.

Very rude, egotistical ran
Heavy Equipment Technician (Former Employee) - Fort McKay, AB - 18 May 2023
I agree with other comments. I was working briefly and seems to be lots of favoritism involved. For being new to a country they come in trying to make the country adapt to their ways. If you're not Australian they are rude to you, take sides with their own and won't answer if you reach out. Condescending attitudes and little to no knowledge about much. If yoire just starting keep handing out resumes cause they already have a sub par reputation and only getting worse. Build site company is catching to the attitudes within office people and it's a matter of time
Pros
Pay is decent
Cons
Company logo colors are strange, odd apparel style

4 July 2023At Mader Group we set ourselves an apart from our competitors with our workplace culture - you’re not just a number here! Our management and office team work in collaboration with our field staff to ensure that they are well supported. Field service tech east (Current Employee) - Virginia - 14 May 2023
Not bad, got my first assignment for Miami. So we’ll see how that goes and get back here excited to see where this leads. This is exactly where my goal was set for as far as position and pay.

Bad experience
Heavy Equipment Technician (Former Employee) - Fort McMurray, AB - 13 May 2023
They have just started in Canada and I'm shocked they refuse to adapt or accept the normal policies when in a different country. All the managers have little knowledge or care to learn and no one local is in those roles making it quite mind blowing. Mine sites strictly ban any sort of cameras and yet all units are fitted with dash cams which is another harsh awakening coming. Request for tools or support you simply get ignored. Promotions only for those who refuse to adapt. Far better options out there
Pros
1 blowing night
Cons
Refusal to adapt or hire experienced leaders in area

Official response from Mader Group
4 July 2023At Mader we strive to have a collaborative culture which allows for all field staff to actively participate in ensuring all required tooling is available with regular tooling checklists being submitted to head office. Requests for tooling outside the “norm” are always reviewed, we aim to ensure our techs have all the tools required to do their jobs effectively. We typically promote from within the business and all vacant supervisory positions are posted internally for field staff to inquire on. Our vehicles are outfitted with dash cams for the protection of our employees and assets.
Poor leadership
Heavy Duty Mechanic (Former Employee) - Fort McMurray, AB - 13 May 2023
I wouldn't recommend. Goofy leadership, poor decisions, ignored when reach out to managers. Then if you resign they'll threaten to sue as the truly feel they're the best company somehow. Don't expect to stay long unless you're from the country. I heard they have two different training systems where either you don't get trained on electrical
Pros
Schedule
Cons
Not respectful

Feild Technician (Former Employee) - Montana - 27 March 2023
Mader is a great company to work for, good pay and benefits. They pay for your flights to and from your worksite. Company takes pride in having good employees and equipment. Good work ethic gets rewarded. I was always treated fair and in a professional manner.
Pros
Pay, cool coworkers. Move to different sites
