ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT III (Current Employee) –  Gaithersburg, MD15 September 2017
It depends on your manager an your dept. Most people are over worked and under paid. Sometimes they go unrecognized for periods of times and it takes years to get promoted. Note everyone is on the same page here. When it comes to salary they pay you at the low end of it and bonuses are low. They offer good health care and match 6% 401K. When it comes to work life balance they will tell you yes and promote it but then eave it up to your managers for final say so. This means some will have it and some won't.

Best place worked at to date
TEAM SECRETARY/ADMIN ASSISTANT (Former Employee) –  Cambridge18 May 2017
Very supportive, focused and fair workplace. They believe in equity and so initiated my NVQ training to level me out with colleagues, management was the best received to date again more an equity style and so no two 1:1s were the same. Great onsite restaurant (at the time i worked there) and decent and respectful colleagues who believed in their research.
Pros
Great colleagues, competitive salary, work/life balance
Cons
HR management

very high turnover for admins
Administrative Assistant IIl (Current Employee) –  gaithersburg21 December 2014
Management treats the admins however they want. They can write their reviews on performance and manipulate them and there is no recourse for the person. HR is useless. Many treat their admins with complete disrespect. Rules are different for everyone.

If you are are an executive admin...you are expected to work 24/7. Lunch is at your desk, get there early and stay late. Even on vacation you are expected to work.

Creating an important product for the well-being of people.
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Mountain View, CA19 December 2013
A typical day involves working independently. Not much interaction with upper Management unless necessary. Co-workers likewise are very busy and often times involved in their jobs. The hardest part of my job was finding enough interesting tasks to keep me growing and learning. The enjoyable part was still being able to complete a tasks independently and doing a very good job with limited resources and minimal help and showing how good of-a-team player I could be. I take pride in a job well done.
Pros
Breakfast
Cons
Lack of being part of a team.

Administrative Assistant II (Former Employee) –  Gaithersburg, MD5 September 2013
Culture is changing, there is little job security. The people who work there are great and there are good benefits and work/life balance.
