Good option for Casual Nurses

Rate of pay is very fair compared with other options in Brisbane ie: Private/ agency.Plenty of work available, rarely got cancelled, and often led to more work/ being asked back to certain departments as a regular. Satisfaction varies greatly between hospital and work environments.

Job is great, stressful at times but the major problem with working here is the clientele and the lack of consideration of employees time with little to no notice for when a shift is expected(for casual employees)

Within my area (drugs and alcohol dependency) the culture was very supportive. Training was superb, as was access to peer debriefing. The money could be better, but I’d take that over a poor workplace.

A Good Place to Care for others.

I worked at Kilcoy Hospital for 6 years and enjoyed my time working there. I worked with some very nice people (both nursing and operational) and found the work fulfilling. I got to help the Nurses with Patients that were the most beautiful people to know. The only thing was seeing Patients come back and their conditions worsening from their terminal illnesses. They hire friends and family.

They claim that Transparency is their ideal, the exact is opposite. I watched people with no Hospital experience walk in through the back door because they are friends with existing staff or used their connections with family at other Hospitals to move their way up. I watched a married union rep hook up with a cook and then use the union to get her full time.Don’t work there.
