Great education Management care only about moving patients on from ED to dischargeNurses advocate for patientsStaff friendly but the culture is changing as the hospital gets bigger

Lots of people taking sick days or taking advantage of the passive culture.

Unfortunately, quite unprofessional culture. Staff and particularly senior management were often accused as bullies or of manipulative behaviour that was tolerated by executives. This is not a happy place to work in most departments. There were pockets of good people, however those were often overworked or not recognized.

Pros

Close to transport, can leave on time.

Cons

Unhealthy culture, lots of jobs for those who are in favour with managers rather than experienced in the job

Friendly and easy going team

Rewarding work environment and a close knit team environment. Good work life balance as close to home with easy access to Nepean Hospital for additional training and education.

Interesting work environment, however I do not want to work as a Nurse there.

Have worked in varied roles at Nepean Hospital. Have had an interesting experience with staff not always being active in adapting the policies set out.

Pros

Large hospital, varied workplace

Cons

Varied adherence to policy

Great opportunities to exercise innovation and collaborative approach to health services delivery

Chronic disease management (CDM) and effective utilisation of nursing in GP are crucial in tackling CDM. Management of both programs was very energising which called on co-operation, consultation and innovation of all parties concerned. Management was very supportive with some of the ideas and initiative I implemented including education and on-site support of the whole practice collectively. As a practicing RN I understood needs of nurses in GP. I was energised in empowering nurses to realise their potential in delivering quality health care

Pros

Was able to be innovative in providing education and support

Cons

Restrictive

Excellent team to work with, as part of a multidisciplinary team you not only meet different people but also the different roles there are in the team

Nepean LHD is a fun place to work in, I enjoy my role here and the learning is endless within a multidisciplinary team. The team makes learning fun and being able to review the different reports and assessments. There is also a opportunity to provide feedback on policy's and actions back to the director
