A typical day at work
Senior IT Manager, Global Systems Services (Former Employee) –  Carlsbad, CA23 May 2019
A typical day at work would be started with a review of current service desk needs and a prioritization of those needs against project work and ad-hoc management requests. Once you had your priority list completed, then you started to burndown the backlog and try and get some project work. It was like juggling balls in the air and some were made of plastic and some of glass, the key was to know which one could not be dropped.
Pros
Autonomy, fast pace, multiple opportunities for engagement, never boring
Cons
pace of work never stopped getting faster, not having full closure on projects

Great Company, Fantastic Co-workers
Polisher (Current Employee) –  Chippewa Falls5 April 2019
Overall, I thoroughly enjoy working with Nordson. It is a blue collar facility. Everyone works hard, but it is still relaxed. Supervisors and employees get along great and upper management doesn't treat employees like numbers. Benefit-wise, you are eligible on day 1 for health, dental, vision, and they still offer a company pension on top of a 401k! Pay......They are above and beyond any other comparable employer in the area. Lets not forget 3 weeks of PTO starting out. The recruiter that spoke with me was kind, friendly, and very outgoing.

Good company, great potential, willing to invest in the future
Machinist (Current Employee) –  Austintown, OH2 April 2019
Nordson Xaloy, the Austintown plant, has been a good place to work. There is a bright future ahead of this company, and a solid corporation standing behind them. There is room for advancement once you prove your worth.

Payroll Representative (Current Employee) –  Amherst, OH18 March 2019
Depending on the department advancement is good or very poor, but most of the GBS positions are good except a few. Corp. HR management is not recommended at all employee is not trustworthy with confidential information.

Raises are better in some departments than other. Employees are great.

Great pay, but bad training & support
CSR - Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Amherst, OH7 March 2019
The training was ridiculous. It was rushed and unorganized. The supervisor was pulled in so many directions and unavailable most of the time. Most of the people that I ran into were very friendly. The pay per hour was great.
Pros
Pay
Cons
Bad training, manager pulled in too many directions for support

Stressful
Sales (Former Employee) –  Salem, NH19 February 2019
Intense process, more work than most people can do. Many put in well over 10 hours a day, and 3 to 4 hours a weekend, just to take care of what they were required to finish within a week. There was an unrealistic expectation. This is a sweatshop if there ever was one. Stay far away.
Pros
Casual Dress (Jeans)
Cons
Too much required, and too little time

Material Handler/Forklift Operator (Former Employee) –  Austintown, Ohio11 February 2019
A lot of jobs can seem very good BEFORE you work there. Once you find out the truth, you will be disappointed. Management is a bad joke. NO real training program. Plenty of problems at this place. BEWARE!!
Pros
They have a roof.
Cons
Too many to list here.

Engineer (Current Employee) –  Duluth, GA16 December 2018
Nordson is a very typical technical corporate environment. The work/life balance is very good and the people are mostly friendly. Also, the benefits are good but not great.

Mill Operator (Former Employee) –  Austintown, OH30 November 2018
The company is world wide, and has done just fine. But the Ohio plant will be closing the doors on this place just like Virginia did. This facility has openly been in a deficit since announcing "the big move".

Member of Technical Staff, Mechanical (Former Employee) –  Carlsbad, CA12 September 2018
Nice people, helpful management. Expected to wear many hats as an employee here, as it's a relatively small business unit, however it's owned by Nordson, which is a large global organization. Some career growth limitations within March.
Pros
Nice people, great for gaining experience
Cons
Advancement Oppportunities, lacks sufficient staffing to keep up with demands

Machinist (Former Employee) –  Austintown, OH11 September 2018
I worked at the Austintown plant as a machinist. I was treated very fairly by the management and my coworkers. Everyone wants to see you succeed at your job. Your success is the company's success. The benefits were middle of the road. There's room to grow with the company. I would have stayed but my future was not in Austintown,OH
Pros
Decent benefits, good people, room for growth, tuition reimbursement, 401k, 40+ hr paychecks.
Cons
No sitting, standing on concrete floors, management changes.
