Reviews about Pay & Benefits for Elementary School Teacher in NSW Department of Education
Primary School Teacher
Primary School Teacher (Current Employee) - Blacktown NSW - 23 January 2017
It can be a very rewarding career if you love children and working extremely hard. You never get to switch off.
Parents can be very painful and over the top. There are also very supportive parents out there who along with some children, make the job feel very worthwhile.
It is not easy to gain a permanent teaching position, but from my experience if you are good at your job it is very easy to pick up casual work and long term contracts.
Pros
Good salary, rewarding
Cons
Always have work to take home, never switch off

Stressful
Primary School Teacher (Current Employee) - Marrickville NSW - 12 August 2022
Working in the department of education can be rewarding. The problem is that the pay does not reflect the amount of work you are expected to do. The extra unpaid hours needed for the job is unsustainable. Behaviour management is the main focus of the job whereas it should be maths and English
Pros
Holidays
Cons
Long hours
