No career progression
Medical Scientist (Current Employee) - Pathology - 24 January 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedPathology, Interesting place to work. As hardly anyone gets fired is not uncommon to find lazy carelees staff who have been working for ages and are very good at the "leave it to someone else" game. Challenging and busy place to work (not as much as private pathology) with no career progression unless some politics are in your favour.
Pros
Salary packaging, job security.
Cons
No career progression, slow management.

factory type mentality
Registered Nurse Division 1 (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 30 October 2022
there is zero satisfaction. it is an indoctrination factory.just ticking boxes. it isnt about healthcare.it isnt about preventive health care. it is all about managers making themselves look good flogging the underlings to get the workload done and they claim the success. there is no reward for effort.

Very little regard given to well-being of employees. Management unwilling to hear about problems. Little support given by management and hardly any leadership. Too much rigmarole and procedure instead of sensibility.

Each day is different. It depends where you work, very busy in the hospital I am at but NSW Health covers the whole state and many different health areas.

Wonderful place to work
Administration Officer - Full Time (Current Employee) - Penrith NSW - 11 August 2019
NSW Health is a great place to work. I'm in an Admin role and the atmosphere is really good. Everyone is so lovely, lots of flexibility, Monday to Friday, really great wages with lots of benefits eg; optionial salary sacrifice for just about everything including mortgage or rent, great super, lots of opportunities to try different roles if you want to, 1 RDO/month, training flexibility with work hours and much more!:)
Pros
Great people, great wages, lots of flexibility with hours of work if needed.
Cons
Parking is very bad, there is a waiting list for staff parking, expensive.

Safe working environment
Registered Nurse Division 1 (Current Employee) - Sydney Western Suburbs NSW - 5 December 2016
It's been my pleasure to work with NSW Health for last five years, though the working load is heavy, support from management and co-workers makes it fun. I love my work...my second home.
Pros
Good salary, secured
Cons
Short of staff, patient nurse ratio in wards is not fair

Bad job
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 3 October 2016
The facility I am working in is very bad with staffing management, often short of staff. The facility has been cutting down on staffs to minimise its expenses to survive because of the low health sector funding from government, while the workload is physically heavy and damaging the health and well being of their staffs. The frontline staffs work like slaves everyday.
Pros
job security
Cons
heavy workloads
