Good workplace, room for progression. Beware of management in some stores.

A good place to work with room to progress if you want it. Job quality largely depends on if your store manager is good. If you have a good store manager, you will have a great time. If you have a micro-manager (which is a decent portion of the stores), you will struggle to hit commission and it won't be so great.Pay is quite good overall, and like I said above, if your store performs well, there are good chunks of commission that are paid monthly.Very KPI driven, can be really stressful at times. You will learn a lot, your sales technique will improve. You will get a lot of downtime during weekdays where usually you won't have too much to do but to socialise with your team, which is great. Weekends get hectic.Customers are the worst in all of retail though, so be ready.

Super wonderful company to work for. Great team building alongside sales. Every day is new and exciting. Management is supportive and helpful. Opportunities always around to move up if you put in the hard work!

Redundancies common, lots of gate keeping

Managers are unsupportive and gossipy. Weird and unwelcoming vibes. Often you would be working with a team who would be made redundant so you couldn't complete a project.

Optus likes to show that it has a great culture. Ground reality is different.

Optus does not 'walk the talk'. They like to show the world that they are an organisation with great culture and environment which encourages talent. However, the ground reality is quite the opposite. You will be promoted or considered for good roles in the company if you have the right connections. If you work hard and depend on merit this is not the place for you to be in. Sycophancy is rampant in Optus - if this is your forte you will succeed in Optus.


Great campus, paid beer and expensive food courts.


Friends and family are encouraged and promoted by leaders at the cost of true performers.

Productive, fast paced & rewarding environment

I love working here!!! I have an amazing team & manager. The hiring process was so efficient! The training process although long & at times overwhelming, is thorough and the team is super supportive. I feel motivated to do better every day and appreciate the goal oriented & competitive sales approach as it pushes me to be my best. Optus cares about its employees and takes a detailed and dedicated approach. It also encourages and recognises talent & hard work and has an amazing structure to promotion within the company.

Great people, big sales targets, can be hard to progress

Have found it hard to progress with internal opportunities for promotion being very competitive. Optus has aggressive sales targets with big expectation on closing deals. The people you work with are great

Optus's rem range is better than other places and their bonus is quite good too. There is quite a vast range of career opportunities. I would highly recommend this company.

Great Culture

Great culture, environment of learning - Gaining skills of an office job in a retail setting - Requires collaboration and team work to achieve store KPIs and bonuses so I would say working in a team is crucial to your own success as well as the the store you work in.

Dysfunctional leadership

There are plenty of opportunities to deliver good results within siloed work groups. There is no cohesive plan across the organisation to delivery digital transformation at enterprise scale with a customer journey focus.

Optus is has a great work culture. Poor top management though had made the place toxic for some people but most managers are great and supportive and encouraging

Property Department is a revolving door

90% of staff in the Property Department are Contractors, Management Treat the Contract employees like rubbish as Management know Contractor have little rights. Most of the Staff you talk to in the Team complain about Management and the Workload and are extremely unhappy and most are looking for jobs outside Optus. Management of the Property Team appear to have phsycological issues it is clearly displayed by their erratic behavior, conflicting decision making and the continual fights and they have with their staff.


Transportation to the Sydney Optus Campus is good


Understaffed, Passive Aggressive Management towards Contracted Staff
