Great to make friends
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Rosebud VIC - 13 February 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI enjoyed working here besides the crazy KPI's being expected to reach. Made lots of friends though, and fun environment. Management were so hard to work with, only a couple good managers. Forcing you to push harder and lie to customers to say you're getting accessories for "free, these people who did this would get rewarded. Usually the customer would find out and come back angry and then someone else would have to deal with it. Reason why I left really.

Highly competitive
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Perth WA - 20 March 2022
Highly competitive workplace. Management in higher up places treated you like a number unless you exceeded your KPI’s by double. If you fell short of KPI’s, you were made to feel not good enough. Pay was much lower than the next job I did, which was reception work.

Relaxed co-workers
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 11 January 2022
Management only cares about making sales and constantly changes managers who have to go through the process of trying to understand the stores processes already in place

Do not do it.
Sales Assistant (Part-time) (Former Employee) - Morayfield QLD - 26 April 2016
The best thing about working at optus is the pay.
Staff, and management don't even get me started with that.
When you wouldn't make your monthly targets (which is easy for that too happen when it gets quiet)
you would get blamed for everyone else not getting their targets.
Nasty customers, i have always been in retail & customer service positions but this was over the top, being abused on a daily basis
And management?! Blames you for incidents that you weren't even apart of or even knew of for that matter. If you're in the wrong part of the store at the time your instantly at fault or to blame.
Best advice i could give anyone if they are considering working for optus. DO NOT DO IT.
Pros
Good pay
Cons
Nasty Customers, horrible management

A great working environment and great opportunities to meet new and interesting people including staff members and customers.
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Melbourne - 14 November 2014
Coming to work everyday is like coming home from work, gathering up with the family, exchanging news, updates, having a few laughs together. Forming this bond makes us a stronger team, with better knowledge, readiness for future events and greater management skills.
The hardest part of the job is trying to take a lunch break when there's a peak of traffic happening with customers/clients crowding the store. On the upside it's a great feeling to have when you know all your co-workers have each others backs during hard times.
Pros
Get to test out the latest gadgets.
Cons
Always wanting to get the latest phones.

A productive and enjoyable work experience
Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Melbourne - 5 November 2014
The most challenging days at working in Optus was dealing with more than one or two customers at the same time. This was because we were short on staff, however we overcame this stress by being extremely nice to customers and trying to put their needs first.

Fun workplace with the staff memebers
sales assistant (Former Employee) - townsvilles QLD - 22 February 2013
everyday was a busy day staff got fustrated, confused and angry like at any work place. i learnt alot about phones and internet. the management was great. staff were lovely and willing to teach other staff new things. the hardest part about the job was when you need help and the staff were busy, you were then leaving a customer wait because you didnt know the aswer to their question. most enjoyable part was the customers and how you get along with them, making friendship with the staff.
Pros
using your phone
Cons
long hours

Challenging, Productive, workplace
2IC (Second In Charge) Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Campbelltown, NSW AUSTRALIA - 30 October 2012
My day would start of by getting the store ready for opening, cleaning, cash drawers ready, stock, computers. Mornings would include processing invoices, paperwork and reports, sending away repairs, banking. The rest of the day would be centered around serving customers, processing sales, filing relevant documents, running stock reports, checking stock, monotoring staff with sales & training. The main thing I learnt from my role was the ability to handle objections. The team I worked with was a great team, everyone respected one another and we worked in a timely and productive manner, working with the team would of been the best part of my job. Our management team was sufficient and fair. The hardest part would be dealing with disgruntled customer's and trying to find a soltuion to the best of our abilities.
Pros
good team
Cons
trying to find solutions to problems beyond your control
