Younger people are quickly hired in upper store management like Supervisors, Assistant Managers and Store Managers. There is no career progression for older people. Teenagers and people in early 20's are hired in these positions. That's why you rarely see older people in Petbarn stores.
I cannot speak for all stores but the stores within my region do not look at your age as a factor for hiring (you of course have to at least be the legal age to work). Hiring managers will look for experience, work ethic, and pet experience. Ultimately it comes down to the hiring manager at the store to decide.
