"Great Family Owned Company" but only if you are part of the Family
National IT Manager (Former Employee) - Kings Park NSW - 29 June 2023
Run Far Run fast. Zero innovation, do as I say, do not think type attitudes. Management foster a fear culture to maintain control and any form of expense requires an ROI analysis that would leave the frugalist Scotsman weeping.

A house divided with a rancid management culture There training schedule was a week in Sydney which reminded me of a speed dating session and a box ticking mentality. Avoid this company.

Financial Accountant (Former Employee) - Kings Park NSW - 30 November 2019

Poorly managed, terrible culture and lack of respect for work/effort.
Workshop Coordinator (Former Employee) - Campbelltown NSW - 19 March 2019
Management have made many promises to staff over pay, progression, changes around the workshop etc, in my experience they have never come through on their word.
There is a blame culture and management are setting the example. I have seen staff unwell or taking personal days for their childrens health and they have been harassed by management for being soft or not coming in when we were busy, this has gone as far as to harass someone while their sister was in hospital in an induced coma.
Pirtek has on multiple occassions decided to ignore contractory obligations towards their staff training (even when disputed heavily), and have harassed and bullied staff into skipping their breaks when they feel they are too busy to allow it, even when they are aware that the staff have started early and will be finishing late (12 hour days on occassion).
other than these are many other examples, Pirtek is a busy and generally interesting place to work if you can tolerate the lack of appreciation and poor pay for most positions.
Pros
consistent work
Cons
aggressive/intimidating attitude from management towards workshop staff

Mostly good place to work at.
Centre Technician (Former Employee) - Gladstone, QLD - 29 May 2015
A typical day at Pirtek in the workshop was continuously making hydraulic hoses for customers like Bechtel, Qal, over the counter sales, source and pack customer orders ready for delivery, off load trucks of stock, things I learnt most was to be more diverse.
Loved working with the nutty bunch of monkeys I worked with, they are a great bunch of people, first time i'd worked with 457's and it was an experience, best bit was getting them to be more Australian. I love working with blokes over ladies that's just me!!!!
Don't think there was a hardest part of the job, cause if you love doing what your doing it's not hard. Love working in hydraulics.
Most enjoyable was having great workmates that always gave me a good laugh and good customers. Best part was when you tell the customer I won't be a moment i'll just make your hose, some are quite surprised it's me making their hose and not one of the fitters.
Pros
Making friends for life
Cons
no lunch room, just a table out in the workshop. Very hot in the middle of summer.
