CORRECTIONS OFFICER in Laverton VIC

A life-changing experience.
A life-changing experience where I made friends for life with other officers. I'm glad I left when I did though. As with all huge companies, management leave a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, in a prison, this can have dire consequences, such as staff assaults and injuries.

High paced, High stress, high accountability
I worked at PPP for 16 years, 12hr shifts and roster were good, Means lots of days off between shift work. Many departments to broaden your skills and plenty of room for promotion for the right candidates.

Good work moral with lots of support.
Port Phillip provided me with a great experience. My job was very eye opening and I was able to learn a lot from my fellow colleges. I enjoyed the hours and how each day was different and interesting.

MENTAL AGE RANGE FROM kindergarten to year 8 levels
Power Tripping staff. sneaky actually really not much different to the people incarcerated. Play mental and physical games. the money is the only thing i stayed so long for. Terrible shifts, approx 13 hr, night and day. assaults, drugs illegal and illegally obtained. Mind games all day from all within the walls. staff have to be on alert all day every day. Which sounds easy, but compliance comes into human behaviour. And unfortunately most Staff are Not on alert. My old verbal saying was, "if its a bad day, its usually means horrific:" But most days are alright or okay.
