Good experience but issues with pay
Tutor (Current Employee) - Randwick NSW - 1 October 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThere is no consistent pay rate across the various branches as they all use different benchmarks to determine employee pay rates. Starting salary is too low compared to similar roles as at other centres.

Good if you don't want to think very much.
Marker (Former Employee) - Hornsby NSW - 12 September 2023
Best suited for teenagers who just want some money. Can listen to music while you work. It can be quite tedious though. Pay was okay for such an easy job.

Jobs at Pre-Uni New College
very tedious job
Marker (Former Employee) - Strathfield NSW - 17 July 2023
Worked only for a few weeks since marking was so tiresome and boring, very repetitive work and you are not allowed to talk. Pretty much did the same thing every time I worked, create questions and mark and thats it, bad pay got minimum wage which was 16 (17 year old) do not recommend

So long you do your work, its a fun workplace
Tutor (Former Employee) - Strathfield NSW - 23 April 2023
So long you do your work, its a fun workplace. Work was always engaging and fun, but need to ensure everything was done properly. Management was good and looked after you.

Easy work
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Strathfield NSW - 16 March 2023
easy work but little training is done so staff is confused and makes a lot of mistakes but this is a good place for high schoolers looking for a non stressful easy job

waste of time do not work here
Marker (Current Employee) - Strathfield NSW - 9 March 2023
do NOT work here it's literally just a waste of time. your time is more valuable than what they pay you. please work somewhere else there are genuinely no pros besides the fact that you might make some friends. the staff rarely communicate and contacting the office won't do anything either, so you'll just end up with several unanswered questions. trust me ANY job is better than this one. pay is incredibly inconsistent and sometimes won't pay you at all. might miss out on some of your shifts and the office does not seem to think this is an urgent issue. if you had a good experience working here good for you, but to anyone else looking for part-time work please just go somewhere else. it's so awful you will only be constantly trying to resolve issues that should not even exist in the first place.

might be a good workplace start for someone who is looking towards a first time job, simple tasks are completed during work, can interact with people

Good place to start for younger teens
Marker (Former Employee) - Homebush NSW - 31 January 2023
Working here was not amazing, but as an inexperienced teen this was a good entry into the working world. Depending on the management, work would either be depressing and boring or semi-enjoyable. The work itself is really boring but not very hard and easy to become really efficient at. Pay is award rates (miscellaneous) so it depends on age.
Pros
Easy work, flexible hours
Cons
Boring

Marking tutor job good for HS students
Marking Tutor (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 10 November 2022
Good for HS students especially senior given that shifts varied from 3-7.5 hrs a week. Minimum wage however the work is easy, a lot of procedures to grasp at first but there will always be someone to help. Polite coworkers although noticeable favouritism at times

it was very unorganised
Marker (Former Employee) - New South Wales - 6 November 2022
i worked here as a homework marker during high school and it was not an enjoyable experience. it may be difficult for some people to work here because because there is little training/direction and lot of the staff (not in high school) speak korean to each other.

Poor + unprofessional management
casual (Former Employee) - Homebush NSW - 21 August 2022
It is very easy to get an interview here and very easy to be hired. However, the management was extremely unprofessional. No training was provided at all and communication with other staff was very restricted. The pay here is minimum wage.

Marked work of students and taught young kids. I would recommend working here. The pay isn't the best, however the work environment is constructive. Would recommend

very demanding mentally with little recognition to show for. workplace culture was non-existent as we weren't allowed to talk to anyone/use our phones.

Working as a "tutor" pretty much seems like an office day job
Tutor/ M (Current Employee) - Strathfield NSW - 11 April 2022
Working as a "tutor" pretty much seems like an office day job, where everyone just sits at their allocated desks and do the tasks they are given for that day.

Productive and fun workplace
Marking Position (Current Employee) - North Strathfield NSW - 17 March 2022
The work is simple, however, can get boring sometimes. I usually finish my work 40 mins early and then just sit there, waiting for my next task. Overall, it's pretty chill but the pay is quite low.

Middle range experience
Tutor (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 16 March 2022
It's good for if you're just starting out working in the education field but the pay is poor and sometimes you're made to do unpaid work after your shift or at home if you don't manage to finish it during your work hours.

Productive, fast-paced work environment especially as a marker.
Homework Marker (Former Employee) - Homebush NSW, Strathfield NSW - 16 January 2022
Productive, fast-paced work environment especially as a marker, depending on how quick you are at marking you may have to help out those that aren't as quick which may eat into break times for those you are helping out and yourself as all the books must be marked. However, once marking is finished it becomes relatively relaxed as you supervise the kids on break, then guide kids to classrooms and do input of homework data all of which were fairly relaxed tasks.
Pros
quarterly dinner meals to congratulate markers for the term, Good response time, flexibility of hours
Cons
job security is not very high, the turnover rate is high.

Easy first part-time job for teenagers but not very rewarding
Marking Tutor (Former Employee) - Homebush NSW - 26 December 2021
There was practically no interview process and was basically called in to fill papers after the application. I worked there from when I was 14 as a marking tutor and a typical day involved marking students' work throughout the day, supervising students during their break and assisting parents and students with queries. The job is pretty relaxed when you get used to it but there is a lot of time pressure when you first start as the amount of work is overwhelming at first. What I disliked about working there was that the employees were treated as casuals and they would stop contacting you eventually as you get older. The hourly wage is average and seems to be a bit lacking for the older employees. Another problem I faced working there for 2 years was that it did not benefit skills such as customer service, communication and teamwork. The manager also changes every school term or so at the branch I worked for so some of them were nice and understanding while others were just rude sometimes.
Pros
Easy to apply for
Cons
Long hours of standing and doing nothing sometimes, lack of job security, important skills aren't learnt

Good first job for high schoolers
Marker (Former Employee) - Strathfield NSW - 11 December 2021
Good first job for high schoolers wanting some work experience. The work is relatively simple to get used to, but does require a bit of speed and concentration.
