Stressful
Assistant Pantry Chef (Current Employee) –  Ruby princess14 December 2019
It's OK as long as you can handle the stress. But there is no day off. No proper break. Overtime pay is fixed. Too much stress and pressure from supervisors and head.

Staff Photographer (Former Employee) –  Emerald Princess, Diamond Princess7 January 2019
Princess Cruises is a great option for people who struggle to find opportunity in their home countries. Unfortunately, staffers are regularly exploited and leadership is a mess. This job will likely take a toll on both your physical and mental health. Not for the faint of heart.
Pros
A great place to develop self-discipline.
Cons
Work was back-breaking and management was abusive.

Assistant pantry (Former Employee) –  sydney australia8 December 2018
Mise in place of the ingredients needed for the service, assisting the 1 st pantry whatever they need. Picking up the ingredients in the store room and storing it properly, monitor and record the temperature of refrigerators and foods. I learned the proper food handling and working on a safe environment. The management implements standard rules for the safety of the crew.In the galley it differs to the supervisor in charge on the area specially to the food handling. Working hours in the galley is much longer than other department and most of the 1 st cook work longer than the required time. Cleaning is the hardest part working on the ship and long hours of work. Traveling around the world for free, few hours to enjoy the port of call is enough to refresh our minds from the stressful environment.
Pros
free meals
Cons
health care, discrimination of gender and nationality, long working hours

It is nice to always wake up in a different place. Although the ship is a bit old and you need to adjust on noise and defective things, it is so much better than on land jobs.
Pros
Free food, no traffic, meet so many different cutures.
Cons
share cabin, different food to get used to

Hard work, long time away
Third Officer (Current Employee) –  International15 October 2015
Typical day involved two watch keeping patters of 4 hours each on the bridge navigating the ship. Outside of this, additional work included: maintenance, passage planning, administrational duties.

Co-workers are from varying nationalities. Predominately British and Italian Officers with Indonesian and Filipino crew.

Management/Senior Officers are professional and hard working. There is an element of micro management depending on the Senior Officer.

The hardest part of the job is the time away from home. Contracts on board usually last for 4 months at sea with a break at home of 2 months.

The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to travel and see many different places in many different countries.
Pros
Tax free income and travel.
Cons
7 day work week, long time away from home.

Great experience for those young at heart with high energy levels
Photographer / Video Producer (Current Employee) –  Sydney, NSW13 February 2014
A typical day on cruise ship would be manning the gallery during the day where you would be displaying the photos that have been taken and marketing them to the passengers as they pass through the gallery. Depending on what night of the cruise it is, there would be shoots happening at night that would go according to the them that is running accross the ship that night. Be it formal night, where everyone dresses up in suits and elegant dresses, or other theme nights like pirates, cowboys, island night which are more casual and fun.

The biggest thing one can learn from this job is patience, as one works with a diversity of people, be it your co-workers or passengers. Everyone comes from a different background an some even speak a different language, so it takes a lot for one to make sure that both parties are on the same page and everyone is happy with what is going on.

The hardest part of the job is probably being away from friends and family, as communication via the internet isn't always that easy as the internet connections on board ship isn't always that reliable. One also has very little alone time and the work ours are long, but if you are a hard worker and understand this, this isn't too much of an issue really.

The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing all these new places that one might never even have heard of or seen and making new friends that you can keep for life all over the world.
Pros
Travel experience, friendships, saving oppertunity
Cons
Long hours, time away from family
