Physical but cool
Warehouse Worker (Former Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - 25 November 2023
Best job I’ve had people were cool schedule was cool and the work is physical but it gets easier everyday and its fun cause it keeps you active. Airport Cargo warehouses is where it’s at & they always stay 7-8$ above minimum wage so if min wage is 16 these companies minimum is automatically 23-24$ an hour if minimum goes to 17$ an hour then they go up to 25$ automatically

NZ based Jetconnect crew - LOVED it :)
Cabin Crew (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 23 October 2023
Such a fun place to work, I was working for NZ based Qantas as a short haul flight attendant and the staff were always amazing and accommodating for me when I was sick/needed to swap trips.

Great back in the day
Customer Service (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 2 October 2023
Great colleagues and a fantastic job back in the day. Shift work was exhausting but that is part of the job. Sad to hear about how things have changed.

Yes place to work in
Qantas Freight (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 1 September 2023
A Typical Day at Work: A regular day at Qantas Freight involves diligently loading and unloading planes. The pace is quick, and the emphasis is on safety and timely handling of cargo ONLY. What I Learned: Working here has taught me the intricacies of cargo handling and the importance of ensuring that freight is treated with utmost care. It’s a constant learning experience that melds physical work with understanding the logistics behind airline operations. Management: Management at Qantas Freight is generally supportive. Many of the male managers have gone above and beyond to ensure our needs are met and that we're set up for success. Workplace Culture: The team culture at Qantas Freight is one of its standout features. Colleagues are approachable and friendly, which makes for a positive work atmosphere. The environment promotes collaboration, respect, and teamwork. The Hardest Part of the Job: Nature has its way of challenging us, especially during the rainy days. Ensuring we remain dry while efficiently managing cargo becomes an added task, but it's an integral part of the outdoor job. The Most Enjoyable Part of the Job: The benefits at Qantas Freight are truly commendable. The staff travel discounts are a significant perk, allowing us to explore the world at more affordable rates. Conclusion: Qantas Freight is an exceptional place to work, underpinned by a supportive management, a friendly team, and enviable benefits. Whether you're passionate about aviation or logistics, this is a workplace where you can truly thrive.

Fun place to work.
Ramp Agent (Current Employee) - Perth WA - 22 August 2023
Great team to work with. Pay is below average for work performed but is permanent part time so ok. Great if you studying part time or have some other work. Weather can be harsh on the tarmac. You get full entitlements and Qantas staff travel on top.

Staff travel and mateship.
Customer Service (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 3 July 2023
Leadership from my Managers in the area I worked under was what I strived to achieve for myself. Colleagues were the best part of your working day. Staff Travel benefits were good, but as the years have gone on, it’s not what it used to be. Salary was good for my job title. The operational side of being part of an airport team, is an adrenaline rush.

Staff travel
Cons
Not enough work/life/balance

Underpaid
Customer Service Agent (Former Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - 30 June 2023
Mandatory overtime, rude management, favoritism, very underpaid if contracted, no opportunities for growth, do not work here I recommend working for other airlines such as American or delta that treats employees better

Caring, Inclusive, Modern and Employee Focused
International Flight Attendant (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 17 June 2023
I've only been employed for 1 month but since commencement they have been nothing short of amazing in the sense that they have always accommodated new employees needs. I had an injury 2 weeks into my training and my manager bent over backwards to find me a place in another class once I was fit to recommence. The company portal is extremely informative and they make you feel like a member of the family. The head office building in Sydney where the training is held is incredible, it almost feels like its own small city, because everything is provided, cafes and eateries in the Qantas building. They also encourage staff to level up by providing training in all facets of the business, so that we can move up in the company such as into corporate once we are qualified. I love Qantas, best company I've ever worked for.

Traumatising onboarding and training
Flight Attendant (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 8 June 2023
After I was told I got the job, I was so ecstatic. I quit my job to get all the required certifications (this is NOT cheap). Then they kept telling me that my training is delayed due to limited space and too many new hires. I waited 4 months to finally start. Once I started, my peers dropped off like flies- you need to pass above 80% in theory exams. If you get less than 80% then they sack you. The company has no remorse firing anyone who doesn’t succeed off the get-go since it’s within probation and they can always hire more. The company does not care about us and we are just replaceable numbers to them. Plus they have the audacity to expect so much only to pay us 47k. This is the worst company I’ve ever worked for, I have never felt so worthless in my life.

They treat new employees like we’re disposable
Cabin Crew (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 8 June 2023
Qantas’ hiring strategy is quantity > quality. They over-hire with the expectation to let people go during probation. They watch over you like a hawk during training. You need to get above 80% in written, in-person exams and if you don’t - you get disciplinary warnings. If you “fail” (<80) two or more they basically fire you because they have an unlimited pool of new employees. They are hiring so many people that there is a backed up waiting list for training. So even if you “get the job” you might not be able to start for up to 1 year. The whole experience was physically and mentally traumatising.

A great learning experience
Engineering (Former Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - 7 June 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? It was an exciting start that later fell flat. Maybe I relied too much on the hiring ads. New uniform, Tim tams and pizza can not pay my bills. A reasonable and fair salary and earned promotion is what I need. They would rather bring in someone from overseas to promote than promote people who are qualified already working here. Really disappointing how Americans are passed over for top positions. But looking out for each other on "foreign" soil can be considered a good thing too for them. I said siyanara? to this system a long time ago What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Staff shortage was a big issue and high turnover although they hired many didn't stay What is the work environment and culture like at the company? I no longer work there. During my time it was good and bad

Not What I Expected
Anonymous (Current Employee) - LAX - 3 June 2023
The location is offsite airport adjacent with free parking. Everyone is nice and helpful. The powers that be are on the upper level. The events with lunch are ok but I rather have a pay increase. Nice does not pay the bills. The turnover rate is very high because of the low pay rate and low pay raises. No performance increases for hourly workers. Managers are mostly Australian and travel home often. They seem to have unlimited restrictions in that area. Yet, workers are given a hard time to take off here in the US. There is a shortage of workers. Hourly workers may or may not go to Australia for training, not guaranteed. That’s your one and only chance to travel there at no cost to you. Although qualified, If you are not from Australia you are only hired for lower wage positions. Promotions are not fair. A typical workday is productive, lots of unexpected issues, everyone works together well.

Used to be good
Crew Member (Current Employee) - Qld - 30 May 2023
It’s all changed since COVID. Pay is worse and management comes down hard on you for the smallest little things. Not a great culture. Hope they can fix it.

Good place to learn
Aircraft Mechanic (Current Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - 23 May 2023
Great place to start your career in aviation maintenance, tools and thorough training is provided. Pay isn't great, but the possibility for advancement is available.
