Fun place to work.
Ramp Agent (Current Employee) - Perth WA - 22 August 2023
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGreat team to work with. Pay is below average for work performed but is permanent part time so ok. Great if you studying part time or have some other work. Weather can be harsh on the tarmac. You get full entitlements and Qantas staff travel on top.

Productive place to work, had some great people
Baggage Handler (Former Employee) - Melbourne Airport VIC - 2 November 2021
It was a really good place to work, most people were really easy to get along with and never really had any issues with managers. Had a lot of extra hours and overtime if you were willing to do it, could actually make good money there, then we had our job outsourced.
Pros
Discount travel
Cons
Job being outsourced

Qantas Traineeship - Baggage Handler/Customer Service (Former Employee) - Mascot NSW - 24 August 2020
I started working along with 2 other students and we were basically just thrown wherever as we weren’t put in the roster and timetables straight away. There was multiple occasions where the allocation officers would put us on jobs we didn’t know how to do because they didn’t train us, there was a huge disconnect between my traineeship company and Qantas as there were several ongoing problems that were never solved such as getting appropriate uniform, we never received jumpers even during the winter time. Despite all the issues I encountered while working there I enjoyed the job itself, it’s a good job for someone who is hands-on and there was always a lot of work considering aviation runs 365 days a year
Pros
Fun job, good co-workers, flexible
Cons
Not much communication, hours differ, poor traineeship management

Very Flexible and also Friendly
BAGGAGE/RAMP SERVICE PERSONNEL (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 3 March 2020
Starting out at qantas you'd be amazed at how versatile the work environment is. You are greeted very friendly by anyone and everyone. In saying that everyone is very helpful to each other and they will always be great to each other.
The place also accommodates for any needs that you have or may need in future which is also very helpful when it comes to it.
The job may not pay a good amount about the benefits is basically what makes up for all in my opinion with the staff travel.
Training is provided for any and all positions that you wish to take on and Qantas is a great place to build a career within the aviation industry.
Management treats everyone very equally and very fairly, they care for their employees wellbeing which is great but do take safety very seriously.
There is nothing hard about the job and it just gets better and better as you progress higher.
The most enjoyable thing about working with the company is basically the job itself, it's very easy and enjoyable and also you given a large amount of down time in comparison to your average 30min lunch breaks.

Overall good working environment
Baggage Handler (Current Employee) - Sydney NSW - 9 December 2019
I'm a permanent part time worker on morning shifts at Sydney International Airport. Usually starting at 6 for 5 hours. 25 hours per week. I work at a department named Interline where we handle luggage that arrive from Domestic and International flights and are moving on to another International destination.

unstable and unpredictable hours. Poor hourly rate
Ground Services Operator/Baggage Handler (Current Employee) - Brisbane Airport QLD - 3 November 2019
The work is not difficult but becomes so when there are not enough staff on, which is becoming more often. Sometimes only getting 1 or 2 shifts a week. It is not reliable.

Good if you're looking to mostly work on your free days
Baggage Handler Casual (Former Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 26 July 2018
the hardest part of the job is the shift work it can mess up your sleeping pattern, management is very polite and understanding, very cruisy and easy job if you don't have other commitments such as uni, or anything that requires a lot of your spare time
Pros
Good people, good benefits, easy job
Cons
early hours, shift work, hard to balance with something such as uni

Poorly Treated
Baggage Handler (Current Employee) - Melbourne VIC - 24 January 2018
I did enjoy working at Qantas but found that I was treated like a another number in the organisation. Hard work is not rewarded and there is no loyalty from Management.

Cabin dressing & baggage ramp services
Cleaner/ ramp services (Former Employee) - Melbourne Airport - 13 January 2018
High management does not see who is hard working & who is not. You are intimidated to join a union. The people keep to themselves work is work and family is family 90% there is no socializing after work. They do not give referees only a certificate of service meaning how many years you have work there making it difficult to attain work in same or other industries.shift work is hard on health.A culture of who you know for a promotion. Although, this was 12 years things may have improved. You find most staff are willing to convert from full time to any hours 1 or 2 rather taking redundancy eg ANSETT Airlines.
Pros
Cleaning continuus vomit & feaces.
Cons
No free immunizations for hepA, b, c, malaria or other overseas viruss etc
