Very intense and fast paced workplace
Airline Service Operator (Former Employee) - Brisbane QLD - 19 August 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedVery fast-paced workplace. Intense and repetitive heavy lifting is involved. Safety is a high priority with a focus on risk assessments & employee awareness. In-house training with heavy machinery and equipment but unfortunately licenses are not transferrable if you leave and find employment elsewhere. Full training is done every 2 years. Flexible working hours.

Airline Service Operator (Transport) (Former Employee) - Sydney NSW - 29 August 2018
Good people and place to work.
Traffic getting to and from work can be a nightmare.
On the whole very little to complain about cold mornings and windy days are the worst of it.
Pros
Staff travel
Cons
Cold mornings and traffic.

Great team based work environment
Airside Service Operator (Current Employee) - Brisbane Airport QLD - 4 April 2018
Qantas was a great place to work with when i first joined. A typical day would be using RF scanners to scan bags into various flights, and you would get assigned a belt to work on that have numerous flights going through each everyday. There is also Arrivals which is unloading of bags onto belts that lead out to the Arrivals Hall for passengers to claim their luggage. We also drive Tow Tractors to take out barrows and cans of bags out to the plane.
Hardest part of the job is the repetitiveness, but with the friendships you make it becomes an afterthought.
When i first started it was spouted as a 'land of opportunity' yet as the years went on it was clear after many attempts to progress that it wasn't the case.
The one thing that's kept me there so long is the job security. They are very lenient and sympathetic towards the workers when leave is needed or tardiness etc.
As good as Qantas has been to me, it's time for a change.
Pros
great team, job security, staff travel
Cons
No progression

Qantas a great company to work for
Airline Service Operator (Former Employee) - Adelaide Airport - 5 August 2014
Working for Qantas/Q-Catering was one of the most professional companies I have worked for.
Management, staff support, skill development and safety was second to none.
The work environment and culture was very healthy and you always had a sense of belonging to the company as apposed to it just being a workplace, which made it very enjoyable to be a part and a former employee of Qantas.
Pros
Staff Support, Work Environment, Management, Training, Staff Travel
Cons
Shift Work, very early start and some late finishes, but the pros out number the cons 10 fold

good kitchen facilites, showeers and gym.
airline service operator (Former Employee) - adelaide airport sa - 5 January 2013
start 4.30am or late afternoon, work for 9hours. to get on with all types of people. management try and help in every way co-workers, we all try and get on with each other, makes job easier. hardest part of job, is if there are delays in flights, the catch up with baggage is hard work. the most enjoyable part of the job is whe you know you only have 1hr to go home.
Pros
good kitchen facilites
Cons
late night shifts.
